  1. These guys were announced as openers for the Vancouver show, don't know much about them but this song is nice. I'm just relieved we're not getting The Beaches at that show...
  2. I'll take what I can get. If it's a book I don't expect anything, especially not long interviews, from a guy who hasn't really done any promo for a couple decades... Not being able to edit what he says isn't a problem, if anything that's how you'd get additional content - a twitter rant or a short interview to clarify some things. Let him rant for 10 hours and condense it into an audiobook, it's basically the same format.
  3. I think nowadays a podcast or series would be way more interesting than an autobiography. Even if it's just a one-off, let him rant for 6 hours without editors or handlers while Joe Rogan occasionally says "dude that's crazy" A longer version of the Eddie Trunk radio appearance, especially at this stage of his career, could be more interesting than a book imo. That kind of format would be a better fit for Axl to do something autobiographic, revealing, or at least in-depth explanations from his side of the bands history.
  4. I picked those guys as icons of their genre but yea, people like Rihanna, Travis Barker or Demi Lovato would probably be more relevant. Not that his songs with them lit the world on fire, and of course rock isn't the most relevant genre. But my point was he's stayed in the public eye and made himself into an identifiable brand, as much as a classic rock guitar player could.
  5. Of course not everyone will know who he is, but he's more than 'broken into the mainstream from time to time'. Being at the oscars doesn't mean much, but he's played the superbowl, was the face of a massively successful video game (Guitar Hero), played with everyone from Eazy E to Michael Jackson to Lemmy. He's literally the 'classic rock guitar player' halloween costume lol, his look is even more iconic than the music he's played. I could go on, but if there's any guitar player that's managed to keep their pop culture relevance as high as other (older) pop stars, it's Slash.
  6. Todd doesn't sound bad on Perfect Crime, but it doesn't really fit his voice. That's a harsh song that needs some grit. It's cool that they played it, but Bad Apples was the best GNR song on this tour so far. I kinda hope Slash brings back another UYI deep cut for his blues tour (Breakdown or You Ain't The First?) but I won't be disappointed if it's all covers. I've only heard a couple Tash Neal songs and he's a decent singer, but I'm really curious about what they'll play - other covers, Snakepit, etc...
  7. I just found out 'The Art Of Telling Lies' by Vains Of Jenna was remastered and released on vinyl for the first time this month... been a while since I listened to that album, but can't wait to spin it.
  8. That artist who 'hinted at a release' dropped a single, announced the album and put physical copies up for sale today lol. Comes out in June, can't wait... I saw them in February and they were great as always.
  9. Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats are dropping an album in June
  10. No, it's been known for a while that Josh wrote at least the first version of it.
  11. Heard this on the radio a couple times today, and that station has Killing Floor in rotation. It's nice to hear these songs while I'm at work. Honestly it's still kinda blowing my mind that Slash combined a blues album with another 'all star guest' album, two things I wished he'd do for years, and so far these songs have turned out as good as I dared imagine them being. Great band, great production, great choices of guests, classic songs... Such a refreshing change from the last couple SMKC records.
  12. No, lol. Duff will be getting ready for his tour, Slash will be getting ready for his Serpent tour, and Axl will be doing whatever the hell he does between tours. I don't expect Monsters to be released until next year, when they can realistically do a few months of touring. Slash has said he wants to do another SMKC album later this year.
  13. This is part of why I'd love to hear them do another covers record. Yes, it's stupid for a band with such a small discography to do multiple covers albums. But there's no indication they'd use Frank in the studio, and Axl could still sound great on Wichita and The Seeker... not to mention some covers of Thin Lizzy, Alice Cooper, The Angels, etc. Honestly when I saw them in 2017, I Feel Good and Wichita were some of their best songs. They were clearly having fun and sounding good doing it. Wichita is still one of the best songs they play... take the pressure off Axl and let him have fun with classic rock songs, get Brain (or Josh, or any pro session drummer really) and I think they'd knock it out of the park. That said, Monsters is great, so much better than the other singles... so they'll release at least one last good song
  14. Nobody should still be 'waiting' for GNR songs lol. At least we've got this Slash record to look forward to - so far it sounds like it'll be his best album in decades. One of my favourite artists dropped a new single today, another announced their album and put physical copies up for sale, and another hinted about a release next week. There's too much good stuff constantly being released to wait for Axl's 20+ year old unfinished ideas... The General really cemented that.
  15. Both the singles he's released so far have been a refreshing change of pace, from the production to his style of playing to the band he's assembled. The singers have been at least on par with his 2010 album... this might really be his best album in decades.
  16. I've listened to Oh Well a few times now and y'know, it might be better than Killing Floor. I've liked both singles and they both get better with each listen, this album is gonna be cool as fuck and I'm stoked to see the tour.
  17. I still prefer Killing Floor, but Oh Well is awesome. Just listened to it. The sound is great, this album is gonna be so fuckin good...
  18. That lazy son of a bitch, I bet he gets Caram to brickwall the songs at the last minute too. Thankfully Buckethead is constantly releasing music with good mixes and without clipping.
  19. Yes, I'm afraid this mistake has ruined any potential enjoyment I may have gotten from the song. I'll complain about it endlessly now. The important question is: are there any vocals that were recorded within the last two decades?
  20. Stoked for this one. And it's such a minor thing... but the text being off-center on the artwork is annoying the shit out of me.
  21. The Struts announced a show at a cool theatre in Vancouver, looks like I'll be seeing them for the 2nd time in under a year.
  22. Rocket Queen and Prostitute are great closing songs for similar reasons - they're good songs on their own, and they perfectly encapsulate those albums. The first half of Rocket Queen is sleazy while the second half is more personal, but the whole song has a nice groove. It's the G and R side combined into one song and it actually works. My point was that it doesn't sound good live anymore, and the extended jams in the middle get tiring. This lineup would sound better on songs like You Ain't The First and Black Leather.
