  1. This is such a crazy take to me. Izzy also hasn't put out a record in a non radio dominated era. If Izzy actually wanted to play and had management that knew how to rebrand him into what he always wanted to be: a rolling stone-cowboy esque songwriter and he accepted his fate and joined one of these Nashville based record labels, i'd bet he'd find himself pretty popular with a potential top 200 album entry. Especially if it was a full on country record. Country music is the only music that still sells unit after unit of PHYSICAL copies or digital downloads of records, which count as 1 whole sale of a record, as compared to a stream thats like 0.009% of a sale or something stupid like that. Izzy is in his "Prairie Wind" era of his career, and that album debuted at #11 on the 200 as Neil Youngs 26th Studio album
  2. Wasn't Corey Taylor very nearly the singer of VR? But VR came around at the hight of Slipknots popularity and Coreys drug addiction in 2002... I think Corey almost killed himself very nearly after this in 2003 or 2004, not because he didn't get the job or anything, just because drugs and alcohol are super dangerous to be messing around with. Apparently Corey went as far as to audition and Record 10 songs.... Now are those songs that Scott eventually changed the lyrics to? It looks like Corey is dealing with a lot of personal stuff right now.... If Guns really are gunna be dormant into 2025 and 2026, I wouldn't mind seeing a "one" of, or a small tour run of VR shows with Corey Taylor as the singer.... I think that hardest thing would be getting Sorum on board with it now that Duff and Slash's wealth probably eclipses everything Sorum has made in his lifetime And what has Dave Kushner been up to since Velvet Revolver split? Soundtracks? Have Axl guest on Slither and hug Sorum when its all said and done, and boom. It would also act as a good tribute to Scott, which none of his former bands have seem to have done since his death if we're being honest...
  3. Picture this: It’s 2014. Axl is on his second Vegas Residency. Duff and Axl have kissed and made up after 17 years. You try to imagine what the next 10 years of GNR is going to look like… Imagine someone telling you at that time that in 2 short years Axl, Slash, Duff (and Steven technically on some shows…) would reunite together for the first time on stage since 1993, Slash would play 9 of the 14 songs on Chinese Democracy during the tour, and Axl would sing Slither, and all of the things you just mentioned in your post…. And after EIGHT years of all of that ^ at the end of the day we’ll still be worried about the same thing we were worried about in 2014: “is Slash gunna put out another album after the one he puts out this year?”
  4. I am so late to this topic so i haven't read the the whole thing, i just hope the album sounds like this:
  5. Myles this. Todd that. I think we can all agree this would have ripped with a drunk as fuck 1991 Axl at the helm, and thats the real thing we should be mad at: father time
  6. Does anybody think Slash might just be playing too *FAST* in this day and age? I feel like I hear it a LOT on the Chi Dem solos that have been well discussed for years now. It just seems like theres no vibe about it, just Slash trying to fit as many notes that sound some what good together into his solos before he drops back into the song. Its like comparing the solos on November Rain and Estranged, heck even Breakdown and Locomotive, to something recent Slash has done. I know the GNR songs i mentioned are slower, but where is the vibeeee, the FEEL? the FINESSE that fits each song differently... Speed Parade indeed....
  7. I just posted the setlist yesterday with those alts. People do not read and loved to be pissed at everything. what a time we live in
  8. If you hate this WHOLE thing just because of the solo, you need to go back to the General - Music Video thread… because you are unhappy with life. And thats where all the other people unhappy with life are
  9. I wonder how that “I KNOW YA DON’T WANNA HEAR ME CRYYYYYYYINNNN” part went
  10. I think the main point for some is we'd rather have hands on creative influence from the band members themselves, instead of something that was obviously put together by the mind of a Millennial, aka The Happy Band of Brazilians. A.I. is certainly cool and a great visual aide, but I have never ever heard Slash, Duff, or Axl say "A.I. is super cool bro and it's the direction we're going in with our art from here on out.." Melissa, on the other hand, has probably said this
  11. Man, every time I come back around here I'm reminded why I've gotten out of this band since 2017 and into other things that are way more fulfilling. This whole thing is just so freaking lazy from every perspective. It feels like a desperate plea to get people to notice "The General." Especially with the way Jarmo said there was no video planned, now all of a sudden theres a video. The amount of publications that ANNOUNCED "The General" this morning as a NEW song and not one thats a month and a half old proves that nobody has been paying attention to GNR, and for good reason if this is how they treat us. Perhaps has generated almost 5 million more streams than The General... The "fall off" is happening right in front of us. You can't release a single every month like all of these Rappers do and expect your audience to not question what the hell is going on. I think this impending video is an absolute after thought and an attempt to keep the GNR name "relevant" during a slow period. Hell, the timing of this release and the fact that Slash starts his NEW solo tour the same day is almost comedic. This company that does GNRs graphics probably has nothing to do now that GNR isn't on tour, so they figured: lets mash up some live footage with a completely A.I. rendered video. Hell, they might have put the lyrics through an A.I. program and the first thing that came out was what they used. As fans, we shouldn't stand (or sit) for this. A band that was KNOWN to have one of the greatest creative outputs (music, videos, tours, award shows, interviews, behind the scenes, etc) of the early 90's has now been relegated to A.I. inspired music videos with absolutely NO creative input from the members of the band. Even Chinese Democracy has more creative direction FROM Axl than whatever the fuck era we are in right now. Billy Strings just went through an A.I. controversy where his team hired an "artist" to produce special shirt designs for his New Years run in New Orleans. This "artist" was new to the game (under 500 followers on instagram..) and literally just used an A.I. program to create "trippy" images that were then put on T-Shirts and sold to the public. Billy had to come out and apologize to all of his fans after he was accused to trying to bring more A.I. art into his brand and not hire true, legit artists. I know GNR isn't asking us to spend our hard earned money in this case (thats a whole other argument...) but why would you NOT want to see something creative from an actual artist or director? My final thought is this: Is that footage from the teaser from the Hollywood Bowl...? And if it is, knowing how GNR fans are about their live footage, why not just release that as "The General (Live)" or some stupid shit. This band is really mind boggling. Go see/follow Slash on this upcoming tour. He looks like he's gunna be doing great things this year. I'm sure the pay off will be much better than whatever the FUCK this is...
  12. Nothing. This is the time to find new artists who constantly WANT to put things out. I've seen Billy Strings 10 times in a year and a half and have not once felt like my money was being taken from me
  13. I provided facts in a follow up post for why Dave might not be the most credible source and why i believe that hypothetical scenario, but yet somehow it taints my WHOLE worldview based off of one opinion i've formed on ONE person who just happened to be associated with two of my favorite bands? Okay internet guru, thanks for the diagnosis! I'll go watch Dave A's cover of Pearl Jam's "Breath" that he did last year, ya know 29 years after he got kicked out of PJ because he's done soooooooooooooooo much with his credibility since that time. Jesus.
  14. He may well be telling the truth in this case, but I'm in the Pearl Jam world and Dave has always been a bit of an emotional charity case when it comes to his version of events and retelling stories. I think its a good tell that when PJ was combusting internally and NONE of the members wanted to even be around each other, even on stage, he somehow got the shortest end of the stick and was kicked. All of the drummers have come back and collaborated with PJ, even recently due to Matt Cameron getting covid, but guess who hasn't and won't? Dave A. Drummers at the RNRHOF?? All the ones on the albums, even Dave Krusen. Dave A on the other hand? Not even asked to appear. What has Dave A done since Pearl Jam besides this story that would define his career on his resume, other than "I was Pearl Jam's drummer when they we're the biggest band in the world..." and arguably the best drummer thats been in the band, period. Eddie Vedder has grown immensely since 1994, as has Axl Rose. Axl squashed the beef with Slash, Duff, and Adler, while Izzy is still pending. Same situation with Eddie and Dave A. But if a fully mature Eddie Vedder ain't calling Dave A back in the 2020's, I can only imagine what happened between Axl and Dave in the 90's. Nothing about this is new, but it still took Axl 10 years post this moment to actually put the album out. Meaning, Axl got his way multiple times after this moment. If Axl wanted Dave A in the band, Dave A would have been in the band regardless of what Goldstein thought. Now did spinless Doug Goldstein tell one Dave A (who had been out of the biggest band in the world for 3 years and done NOTHING afterward at this point) "we don't need ya cuz we're gunna reunite the original band" as an excuse to get him to stop calling Axl? Thats up for debate in my head.... BTW Dave A only wrote 2 pearl jam songs and this is one of them:
  15. yeahhhhhh right. It sounds like he stopped getting called and had to call Goldstein to figure out what was up and has somehow spun it to he said the music would be better as a solo album lol
  16. They've done enough over the last almost 8 years to do that to themselves, at least for the hardcore fan. 1 piece of music doesn't change that. The way in which it's released does though.
  17. Love Slash trying to keep up on this switch over during these two songs. Crazy mashup. Betcha never thought you'd see Slash playing Mike McCready riffs, or playing in a jam band
  18. Slash is starting his "off season" literally next week with Myles for that Christmas Jam thing he just got announced for in Asheville, NC. I think it will be the first time Myles and Slash have been back up on stage together in a little under 2 years. Slash Dates 2024: January: 1/23 - Mexico City, Mexico 1/26 - Bogota, Columbia 1/29 - Belo Horizonte, Brazil 1/31 - Sao Paulo, Brazil February: 2/1 - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 2/4 - Porto Alegre, Brazil 2/7 - Montevideo, Uruguay 2/9 - Buenos Aries, Argentina 2/11 - Cordoba, Argentina 2/13 - Santiago, Chile (with Gilby Clarke opening!!!) 2/22 - Adelaide, Australia 2/24 - Sydney, Australia 2/25 - Brisbane, Australia 2/27 - Melbourne, Australia March: 3/2 - Osaka, Japan 3/4 - Tokyo, Japan 3/5 - Tokyo, Japan 3/7 - Taipai, Taiwan 3/9 - Seoul, South Korea 3/12 - Manilla, Philippines 3/15 - Bangkok, Thailand 3/28 -Dublin, Ireland 3/30 - Birmingham, UK 3/31 - Newscastle, UK April: 4/2 - Manchester, UK 4/3 - Glasgow, UK 4/5 - London, UK 4/8 - Dusseldorf, Germany 4/9 - Amsterdam, Netherlands 4/11 - Hamburg, Germany 4/12 - Copenhagen, Denmark 4/15 - Berlin, Germany 4/16 - Katowice, Poland 4/18 - Brno, Czech Republic 4/19 - Budapest, Hungary 4/22 - Milan, Italy 4/23 - Zurich, Switzerland 4/25 - Munich, Germany 4/26 - Luxembourg 4/29 - Paris, France I think its safe to say Guns will probably be dormant all of 2024, which is probably bad news for an album. I can see Slash doing a 3rd US leg in the fall if Guns doesn't pick back up at all. That man never stops... April is going to be crazy for a 58 year old slash... Multiple countries in multiple days??? GNR don't do that shit lmao. Slash just doesn't stop, who knows he and MK might write an album while on the road in that time. It will be interesting to see if Duff does something else.. I totally expect him to. Which pretty much makes GNR laughable as a music making entity at that point.
  19. Eh, I don't think Gilby had much of a choice when things died down after the UYI tour. If I remember correctly, the whole reason he did Pawnshop Guitars was because he had a break and nothing was going on.... I think by late 94 the band (mostly Axl) had cut contact. Slash had to deliver the news, and that probably strained both relationships... Gilby got through the Snakepit era, and then probably decided to go his own way, the same way Slash did. Whats wild to me is that Axl, the man who fired Gilby, and Gilby himeself shared the stage post that era before Slash and Gilby did again... Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Slash and Gilby shared the stage again until a Kings Of Chaos show in like 2011, or maybe even the RNRHOF Induction Ceremony in 2012....
