Powerage5
Just watched Bubba Ho-Tep. Bruce Campbell plays an elderly Elvis Presley who swapped places with an Elvis impersonated before he "died", and he and a black guy who thinks he's JFK do battle with a mummy who is haunting their retirement home. Classic intentionally bad movie

Nobodys_Fault
In the same vein, has anyone seen "Black Dynamite"? Hilarious.I've seen that film more times than I care to admit. Probably the greatest comedy of the last decade. They've started an animated series on Adult Swim now too which is just flat out ridiculous. The villain in the first episode is Jackson 5 era Michael Jackson.who in the end turns out to be an alien.
PappyTron
I love Black Dynamite's fight with Nixon at the end. Seeing Tricky Dicky wave nunchucks about just made the seen, along with his heavy breathing!

GivenToFly
WB plans to make The Dark Tower movies, with Russell Crowe as RolandI'm not quite sure about Crowe for this role. I mean, I kinda see it, but then not really. Obviously, he's not gonna be played by Eastwood, but it's hard to get over the image. I would have gone with Viggo Mortensen.Eddie Dean has always been James Franco in my mind, but I suppose Franco is too old for the role now.Anyway, it's probably not gonna happen in the end, let's face it. GivenToFly
They're doing a Hitchcock retrospective at the BFI Southbank in London these days, they're screening a lot (or all?) of his movies, some documentaries too. I went and saw Frenzy, which I hadn't seen before. What an amazing movie! In a way it must have felt a bit dated when it came out because it's filmed, written and acted much like his earlier ones, but at the same time it's cool to see how he would've done things without constraints. I think that's what he was going for anyway. It's like a 40s/50s movie but with things that weren't available then: colour, nudity, foul language, explicit sexual references. But a very good Hitchcock flick. Also, one of the funniest movies I've seen. The whole theatre were pissing themselves, and not just once or twice. There were so many great witty lines and the scenes with the policeman and his wife, the scene in the potato truck and a bunch of other moments. Very, very good movie, I loved it. Guest Len B'stard
Thats the one with the tie killer innit? Love that film. The only Hitchcock films i don't go a bundle on are the espionage type ones, even they are good but it's just not really one of my favorite genres and that y'know? You're spot on with you appraisal of it too, y'know, of being like a 40s/50s type movie only less restrained, you'll find that with a lot of british cinema in the 70s/60s (although a lot of British Cinema spent the 60s trying desperately to be more contemporary) had a touch of that to it. I think that has a lot to do with changes in British Society not being so pronnounced as they were in other parts of the western world.
