Georgy Zhukov
I will look for it. Russian films are a little hard to fine.I am glad that the German filmmakers have been depicting life in Nazi and Cold War divided Germany. Many have been ashamed to admit what the German people have done during the war. Well the Soviets constantly reminded them but even modern Russians weren't keen on looking back to the past. Many Russians seem to want to go back to the old waysThank you! I don't remember very well the film to be fair, I saw it on TV one day when it was very late but there were some shocking scenes (like a man hitting a wall in front of his family to kill himself when the KGB came to arrest him).I think Russia hasn't left behind yet the old ways, at least not completely.Looks like Lithium found it.Well you know after Putin's United Russia Party the second largest political party is the Communist Party. So yeah some people seem to want to go back.Do you got any non English language films for me? I found The White Ribbon at the library but it looks like someone checked it out. I found The White Ribbon at the library but it looks like someone checked it out.I watched The white ribbon and I really liked it. What kind of films are you interested in? Not sure if I know many films about the WW2, fascist and Communist Europe except the famous ones. "Stalingrad", "Der Untergang" (Downfall), the Soviet film "Come and see"... those come to my mind right now.About other subjects, I would recommend "Irreversible", a very hard French film, "The seventh seal" by Ingmar Bergman, and the Spanish one "Los santos inocentes". I don't know if you can find this film but it is really realy good. Edited November 10, 2012 by izzygirl

I enjoy the WII, facist, communist and post-war era film. I've seen Seventh Seal, I will see if I can find the other two you mentioned. I'm about to watch "If I want to whistle, I whistle" (I think it's Romanian but not sure). I'll tell you later if it's good.

Georgy Zhukov
It use to be non-existent. a few years ago there were only a handful of cinemas in Romania. Some movies were shown on caravans.
GivenToFly
It use to be non-existent. a few years ago there were only a handful of cinemas in Romania. Some movies were shown on caravans.Actually, that is not true. Either part. Romanian cinema has a pretty long and impressive history but dwindled in the 80s and 90s.But yeah, in the last few years there have been a few movies that people really rave about including some that have been gaining international recognition. I've only seen one, came out in 2008 I think, Politist, Adjectiv, and that one was pretty good. I mostly stay away from them because so many are so depressing and also too many are either about communism or the Revolution and it gets exhausting quickly. I saw part of Amintiri din Epoca de Aur, which was somewhat funny but I guess you'd have be Romanian to get it, and about half an hour of 432 which immediately struck me as the kind of stuff that raises the hair on your arms and I thought no thanks, I don't need this shit. Angelica
Watched all three Paradise Lost documentaries about the WM3. I'd seen the first but not the others. They're highly effective (obviously, the got them released), I did have ethical qualms with the filmaking at times. JayGatz
World War Z looks awesome. Looking forward to it!Looks like shit imo...Between the scenes shown here and that Chanel No. 5 ad, had Brad Pitt turned retarded or did he just forget how to act? Sounds horrible in the scenes shown here.
