Purely based on solo stuff...

I LOVE Bumblefoot but Buckethead for sure!

Funny how years ago back, most fans hate Buckethead until he left then they want him back.

Same with Finck.

It's always like this :rofl-lol: :rofl-lol: :rofl-lol:

Does anybody actually want Bucket back? I mean he's a great guitar player, I think he writes way better leads than Ron, but lets face it he was NOT a fit for GNR. Ron plays the role much better, as much as I dislike the idea of having a shredder in GNR he at least looks like a rock n roll guitarist.

Finck on the other hand, I wouldn't mind if he came back... I think his solos on CD were better than Bucket's and I don't see DJ Ashba coming close to writing anything as cool as the shit Finck brought to the table.

well, I've listen to all of Bumblefoot's albums and I can honestly say I've never felt the urge to listen to them again. Buckethead on the other hand writes some great memorable shit that I often pay a visit to. Buckethead >>>>>> Bumblefoot

communicating with your fans isn't everything

Agreed. I don't like Bumbles lyrics or vocals either.

Which is why the search function should be fixed.

And what is with these people basing their opinions on their solo stuff? What about for GN'R? The biggest criticism I've seen for Bucket is that he doesn't "fit" GN'R while Bumblefoot is more like it.

They're replacements in what was once "the most dangerous band in the world". If its still going to exist as a facade at least be convincing, Buckethead is from a totally different neighborhood of musicians. Bumblefoot can play a sunburst Les Paul and look like he somewhat belongs there...

If none of that was important to Axl I don't think we would have seen the drastic transformation we saw in his image and Finck's in 06, one could also argue it played a role in the selection of DJ Ashba.

I guess dog shit, chicken coops and really depraved porn didn't help.

I don't think it is about the image, but the attitude and Ron has shown great attitude.

I guess, image has without a doubt always been important to Guns N' Roses though. That's been true from day 1, don't see how anybody can say otherwise.

we're talking about the same Guns N' Roses right?

*facepalm*

All I'm saying is Guns N' Roses has always been about image, can't really deny that. From the leather to the biker shorts to the kilts to the football jersey's to the leisure suits and cowboy hats. It's not like Axl makes multiple costume changes a set or anything

I think what's interesting about Bumble and Bucket is that although they are both virtusios, and like to play fast tapping stuff as their primarily style. They can't be more different in all the other aspects of musicianship and personality.

You've got Bumble who will talk to anyone and everyone, someone who's solo work is very cheery, and tongue in cheeck rock. Where Bucket's solo work is very mythic and doesn't let much of itself out, and is memorable for it's epicness on a grand scale.

I love them both though... ;)

I don't agree with that. They can play fast tapping stuff, fast legato licks and fast alt picking stuff and also slow bluesy stuff, but they only do that when it fits the song. Their solo albums are not shredding albums - they can't be even labeled since they're going from so many different styles.

I don't like Bumbles lyrics or vocals either.

If we're talking about This I love-like (or even Welcome to the Jungle-like) lyrics it's pretty obvious that his lyrics won't appeal for most. His lyrics aren't cheesy based on generic love songs, nor follow the sex, drugs and rock n' roll cliché. I mean...

I love all of them and they all have different and honest/funny/clever meanings :)

Doesn't matter what I say, they all made up their minds
I didn't like it then, and I still don't like it now
But I find the strength to smile somehow"

GN'R fans are use to the whole sex, drugs and rock and roll even though Axl wanted to write better lyrics, Ron actually writes good lyrics.

Image and music are two different things. When Axl took over the band and the direction Slash left and took the image with him with Axl keeping the music intact, though it has changed because the new members were different from the old.

If they ever get around to finishing the remainder of the Chinese Democracy songs it will be the end of the Buckethead/Finck era and the beginning of the Ron/Richard/DJ era. Whether some fans like it or not.

Buckethead's solos basically show off his skills, his best work is when he is restraining and lets it develop. Colma, Electric Tears and Population Override are among his best work. Ron is more of a songwriter, he writes better songs while Buckethead writes better instrumentals.

Bruno, I meant simply what they are known for primarily, and to the general music fan.....both Bumble and Bucket would be classed as virtusios. I know they can play slow bluesy rock as well, but I just meant the first common perception from the public. e.g in many magazine interviews or articles, they ALWAYS call Bucket and Bumble virtusio masters' first and formost.

But I agree with the fact that Rons' solo work is amazing, I don't know how anyone can dislike it to be honest.

Normal, Dash, Simple Days, Turn Around, Shadow, Abnormal, Green, She Knows......and many more. Ron is a powerhouse of writing and amazing guitar lines, and he in my view is easily the primarily all around artist in Guns right now, and he is capable of releasing albums month after month. ;)
