Dr.Dre/Axl

Let me start by saying that I am not a rap music fan,but these two have alot of the same things going on.First of all Dr.Dre is known as a recluse in the hip-hop industry. And he has been working on "detox" for about ten years, with a release date coming and going for every single one of those years.

Dr.Dre shows up at random places (MTV) last year and says "detox is coming",then calls into radio stations and says "its coming soon"...Sound familiar?.My question is,why is that the media gives Dr.Dre a free pass to come and go with release dates,etc...But when Axl did it,then it was the end of the world?...And yes,I know that Axl doesnt have the greatest relationship with the media, but lets not forget that Dr.Dre once choked and assualted a reporter.

Im really just wondering why though?,Is it because its a different genre of music?.

Because no one gives a shit about Rap.

:rofl-lol:

For sure man, I wanna be cool like you and limit myself to only certain kinds of music. Good music is good music period, regardless of genre.

Rap is good music, oh please give me a fucking break.

whats funny is, it takes him so long to create Detox ,

when rappers can spit out 10s of records a year, I mean, how hard is it to write a Rap 'song', and add a computer generated drum beat to it, and viola your done.

I could write a rap song right now, all you have to do is add the words 'bitches, hoes , N''ger, gangsters and you have a hit song,

if that is what you consider good music, I dont know why the hell your on a gnr board. :rofl-lol:

because Dr. Dre has done many things besides Detox over the year including starting a record company(or head of it or whatever his role was with it) or two, finding and developing new talent and producing where as Axl Rose was simply "working" on Chinese Democracy and Chinese Democracy alone.

That and Dr. Dre didn't disassociate himself from his N.W.A. "bandmates" then run off and use that name for his future products. Forget if you like Dre or not or Guns or not, Dr. Dre has been busy doing a lot more then just his disc throughout the years that the public could see whereas Axl Rose only had Chinese Democracy. That's not to say that's all Axl did, but that's all that was seen...finally

The irony is that Axl showed a lot of support for NWA back in the day and in a club in about 2006 and DJ started to play Paradise City and Axl told him to stop becasue he wanted to listen to some rap.

Agreed.

By the way, I don't think "Detox" has taken over the persona of Chinese Democracy....in being "the most anticipated" album of alltime.

To me that goes to...........Zack de la Rocha's long delayed...solo album.

Dre's been plenty busy. He's a producer, not a rapper. And he's produced probably around 100 tracks since his last album. Also, he had Detox finished at one point, but then sold off the songs to other artists. He's not sitting on his ass. He just hasn't had his name on a cd spine in a bit.

You may be able to write a rap song, but again, Dre is not a rapper. He's a producer. And probably one of the top 3 producers to have ever lived. If you lived another 100 years, you wouldn't see another composer of Dre's caliber. And the production methods he brought to the table made all music sound better. Dave Matthews and Guns N Roses albums sound cleaner because of Dre. Anyone who's ever sat behind a board will tell you the same.

You can thank Trent Reznor, among others, for that.

it's by far the most popular and important musical movement of the past few decades.

Are we talking about good rap like Tribe,Nas,NWA,Vanilla Ice,Kanye, Public Enemy or shit like Kiss Me Through The Phone?

Well im trying to say is like the creative process...Dr.Dre has re-recorded detox a few times over, brought in different people to work on it...First it was a "hip-hop opera" themed album, then it was back to regular..now its something different...It was like when everyone was hearing that axls "new" sound was NIN like....,then it wasnt...then it was...

But Axl has done a few things here and there between UYI and CD,Not half as much as Dr.Dre has since 2001...But really, besides the 1999-2000 years for dr.dre where else was he?...He did a few songs on eminems albums..and 50 cent...but that about it.

But nobody ever talks shit about him taking since 99' to release "detox"...and thats been 10 years...

well who has a number one hit right now, axl or dre?

Dre.

Who has more number one singles?

Dre, not even including songs he only produced

Who has given rise to some one the most important artists of our time?

Dre (Snoop, ODB, NWA, Eminem, 50 cent)

This isnt to discredit axl, but if you were to ask me who had more of an impact on music as a whole, it would be Dr. Dre. Just about everything Dre touches turns to gold. everything axl touches were either up his ass to begin with or he ends up hating. Axl may have sold more records, but Dre is one of the main reasons why rap is as popular as it is today. Rock would have survived without axl rose.

... Who has given rise to some one the most important artists of our time?

Dre (Snoop, ODB, NWA, Eminem, 50 cent) ..

You consider these bands to be the "the most important artists of our time?" ... :rofl-lol:

Wow - I can only assume you're about 15 years old or have led an incredibly sheltered life when it comes to music.

All of those names created flavor-of-the-month music that people won't even remember in 15 or 20 years from now. The real musicians of our time are the ones who can create timeless music - lyrics and music that will have as much significance to someone 20 years from now as it does today. That's why truly gifted bands like Led Zeppelin, the Doors, and even Aerosmith are still going strong today. New generations of kids are discovering their music - and relating to it. The same will not be true with the pointless trendy lyrics that the bands you named wrote. ... GNR fits into the "gifted bands" category too. Do you really think that if Snoop puts out a "best of" album in 20 years from now that it will sell millions of copies the way GNR's music has?

don't bash Mr. Mathers - Eminem's music will be timeless alongside the bands you listed

besides 50 cent, those are all legit names in the rap industry..so i think it's you that lives an incredibly sheltered life madison. NWA is one of the most influential rap groups of all time. any rapper will tell you that they were influenced by NWA. just because you prefer rock over rap doesn't mean you can totally discredit it as shit. those names mentioned are NOT 'flavor-of-the-month' as you said. dr dre hasn't released an album since 1999 and people still talk about him and have an interest in him and his projects. those guys are very well known and have legacies, just like GNR and all those other bands you mentioned do. snoop dogg has put out great music. so has dr dre. so has NWA. so has eminem. the list goes on for all these critically acclaimed rap albums. but of course, rap is 'shit' so these critics have no idea what they're talking about.

don't be ignorant.

See,rap can even touch a young white girl who wasn't even born when Snoop/Dre were hitting it big. Axl wanted NWA to open for GnR back in the day so maybe that will legitimize them to some on here even if you don't like the music.
