Official GNR Social Media Update / Discussion

Recommended Posts

Just seems utterly out of character considering Axl's lines in the sand and the tide of investment he put into his half lunatic, half admirable crusade but he clearly lost the fire for it after the brilliant 09/10 tour but he had been playing the stuff for yonks, only way he'll progress creatively again maybe.

What is wrong with them? You can celebrate your ''Sweet Child Saturday'' in your ''Welcome to the Jingle'' top, while having a little 'Patience'' for Axl to ''look seriously into something or another'' - with a three month Fernando announcement (presumably based on a three hour meeting) to look forward to?

I seriously do not understand how someone in a professional position could just flat out lie like that. Obviously, there was nothing coming in 3 months. Things didn't get pushed back. Nothing was ever coming. And the fact that its coming from the essentially official manager of a real band like Guns N Roses is insane. We make fun of it, but at the end of the day this is a legitimate thing thats happening to a legitimate band. That is how low they have fallen. That they can essentially tell us anything, and we'll keep accepting it. Or that we all know its fake and we still just let it happen. Thats incredible to me that an actual band as famous as GNR does this.

If I were Slash, its why I'd run as far as humanely possible away from this. It is an utter train wreck.

That's the problem...

I don't think there was an intention to lie to the fans when he said he'd have news for us in 4 months (or 2, or 3, or whatever)... There probably is something on the works, but we should all know by now that as much as Fernando might be aware of it, it's not his call to make, and we know how with GNR, deadlines are just a suggestion and extremely flexible  . I honestly don't think he posted that just to say something to the fans that would keep them quiet and stop talking shit for a bit.

And that's the problem with the GNR camp (and it's nothing new, it has ALWAYS been like this), the level of uncertainty within the camp fucks with everyone.

So now everyone is calling Fernando a liar... when it's very likely that all that happened is that things didn't go as initially expected, so there is NOTHING to announce at the moment, either because whatever they were working on has been delayed or just discarded for good.

What can he do now? Show up here, and give explanations... would that make things any better for anyone? Maybe, but it would only (once again) make things clear:

Any announcements, any future plans, any projects, anything related to new music, tours, reunion, etc don't mean shit in the GNR world, because things can change in the last minute. Maybe that's what he should do: log in, say that they were/are working on "something" (we won't know what) and that it's been delayed because of bureaucracy or because it just wasn't going in the right direction, or for whatever reason... just a general light explanation would be nice. I wouldn't expect any details. Hopefully things have just been delayed because whatever they're doing takes more time and effort to plan and do than initially expected.

What are the possible scenarios with the GNR/fanbase relationship??

- No announcements at all... this bothers everyone and pisses off the fans cause they don't know what's going on and what to expect

- Half-assed announcements (we're working on something, hopefully we'll have news for you """soon""")... keeps fans busy wondering and coming to the craziest conclusions for a while, but we should know by now that it doesn't guarantee anything.

- Hard announcements... we will tour next year, we're in the studio recording/mixing/mastering, we're releasing a new album in the spring... everyone gets excited until things start getting delayed, or they just don't happen (with or without a proper explanation), which pisses off fans. As with the previous point, these announcements, as exciting as they might be, don't guarantee that anything will happen.

It's a dysfunctional band with an equally dysfunctional management and an even worse relationship with their fanbase, but does this really surprise anyone? Come on, guys, it's always been like this, the only difference is that now the time frames are WAY LONGER.

True.

Yet.....somehow every other band in the world is able to handle their business. That is what is so frustrating. People don't and Axl and TB to suddenly become more fan friendly. We just want them to be semi-competent.

If really is so easy.

Rumors are false.

Or

All the camps are talking and seeing if there is a possibility to work together again. It's complicated as not only are we dealing with our history together, but all the players currently have bands and other projects in motion. So we are all doing our best to see if there is any way possible to give the fans what they want and put some version of the old band back together for a bit. Thanks for your patience.

That's all they would have to do.

And everyone would complain about how they preferred to be surprised

This is like people born blind always complaining about not being able to see when everybody else can. It's been like this all the time. Just get over it already. Gn'R is and has always been dysfunctional. After so many years it is time to not be frustrated about it.

Sorry bro. You don't get to dictate to people what emotions they are allowed to experience.

And comparing a major physical disability like being blind to a rock band and their fans? Yowza. That seems a bit of a stretch.

And no disrespect but you are wrong. Maybe you are a new fan to the band so you didn't experience GnR during their first four albums.

GnR use to be a very fan friendly band. Axl and company did tons of interviews and were heavily involved in MTV and in promoting the band and keeping their fans up to date with band news.

They had interviews with all the rock magazines. They often talked with Kurt Loder. Heck it seems like Axl even did an mtv contest where he gave away his house or apartment or something like that.

And man. You would have loved being a fan during the Illusions era. They must have put out 7-8 music videos for those two albums. It was a really great time to be a fan.

Yes, they were more open with their plans in the first years, but the band was still dysfunctional in the sense that those plans didn't happen like or when they had stated (just remember back to the farce of getting UYI out and the various delays). And the dysfunction was widepread, just look at the mess with the fights, the drug use, Axl quitting, Steven and Izzy leaving, etc. Still, even if we don't include the first years, the band has been dysfunctional and lacking in communication with their fans for the best part of 20 years. Yet you are still frustrated over this? Really? Here's another analogy for you: It's like having a stone in your shoe, at some time you either have to take it out or just stop whining about it.
