Over the next few weeks I'm planning to listen to these albums for the first time:

Dire Straits - Dire Straits

Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms

Pink Floyd - DSOTM

The Verve - Urban Hymns

Saw these mentioned here (well, who doesn't know about Dire Straits and Pink Floyd, that's no revelation...but I never really knew that the Verve was so highly regarded), so I'm looking forward to them. Most of them I bought a while ago for a song or two that I really liked but just haven't listened to them all the way through. I used to do that a lot (with books to, bought but didn't read), and now I've got a whole shitload of stuff to listen to!

And I've also got a couple of L.A. Guns CDs coming to me soon from Amazon. Can't wait, hope that's a killer band. rock1 Heard good things, but most of these hair metal bands that I've listened to lately have only a few good songs and a lot of mediocre ones (Skid Row, Poison, Motley Crue...although the Crue are the best of that bunch). Anyways...

hair of the dog - nazareth

plastic green head - trouble

both bands have singers that sound very similar to axl. nazareth is more of a classic rock- well, you guys know nazareth.

trouble is a more obscure band, but also very classic sounding... guitars are heavier though... i hate the term but "stoner rock." awesome. download "the eye" by these guys. dissapointment-free shit.

I agree with the 2 long lists prior to this post (by Spud_Jr and dizzigdag)

With special emphasis on Hendrix, Led Zep, The Beatles and AC/DC (and of course GnR)

My 0.2:

Contraband

I like 'Elephant'

'Parachutes' is meant to be good (I only have 'a rush of blood to the head'. Has some good songs on it)

Ramones(don't have-meant to be good)

Thriller(don't have-meant to be good)

What else? Blood Sex Sugar Magik?
