Hey guys, just wondering if any of you have met Axl and if so what is he like? Also, do you think Axl or GN'R would ever do any in store autographs at a record store? There is a cool record store on Sunset called Amoeba Music in LA that I know would love to have them.

never met the man.

know several people that have, from what i understand he is gracious, funny and of course...protected.

there is a difference between meeting him and knowing him (obviously), but unless you are treating him like shit, seems he is pretty nice.

I haven't met Axl but know someone who has, saying basically what the poster above me said. Beta and her familyare amazingly nice, of course. I've met Bumblefoot and Del James, amazing guys as well.

I had the pleasure of meeting Axl recently, he is not what most would believe, he is very friendly, outgoing, gracious, happy, hilarious. A real pleasure to be around, everyone in the band and around them were wonderful. I did not feel like I had to be anyone else but myself, he is one cool cat.

If they were going to do an in-store when it came out, it would've been for Best Buy... Chickenfoot did a short promo tour.

McCartney did the show at Amoeba and signed autographs because he wanted to show support to keep music stores open, and wound up putting a CD out from it. It would be pretty cool for GNR to do an in-store and unplugged show there, or even semi plugged, plus they've had some other good people play there.

You can take a look at who's played there:

I met him in a dream once, we had lunch in a revolving restaurant. He seemed really nice, although he did get a bit pissed when the waiter fucked up his order. We even talked about Velvet Revolver and who he thought should be the new singer.

True story.

Every night before the show. He has a great sense of humor. Great guy!

I met Axl in early 2001. I was a blackjack dealer at Treasure Island. It was the first time Axl had ever been in that casino (he told me). He was alone, casually dressed, and very unassuming. He sat at my empty game, and at first, I wasn't even sure it was him. I asked if he wanted to track his play, so he gave up his I.D. He was soft spoken, didn't curse, or smoke, and drank Sprite. I got to spend 40 minutes with him until I went on break. During that time, he told me about the upcoming release of C.D., and the ensuing tour.

He'd told me about the picture of the bike with the huge basket on it that he was going to use on the album cover. In my mind, I thought it would be on the handlebars...oh well. He also told me about Buckethead signing his contract on the haunted house ride at Disney Land. He said the original title of the album was going to be Chinese Communism, or something like that, but then he thought that wouldn't work, and changed it to Chinese Democracy. He was excited about the song too.

I don't know why he felt so comfortable talking to me; at the time, I wasn't even a fan, which had to be obvious by the stupid questions I asked him; "Is your name really Axl?" lol He spoke about after the money was gone, the friends were gone, the women were gone, and he was starting over again, only this time alone; the original band was gone too.

Before that night, the only thing I knew of Axl Rose was the ugly picture VH1 had painted of him. The man I met was down to earth, and humble. "Nice boys don't play rock n roll," but, "I know you better! "

Good, Bad, or Ugly, I'm a Guns N Roses fan, and an even bigger Axl Rose fan.

I haven't actually met him, but last November My bro and I were driving up the canyon where the ESTRANGED video was filmed. WE were driving slow because it was scarey, and we were stuck behind a service vehicle. I was seriously wishing I could turn around, when I heard an engine rev and we were passed by a mediterranean blue sports car. My brother saw the driver. I showed him a recent pic of Axl, and he said that he was the guy. He scared me half to death, but he had a really cool car!

My dad claims that he met Axl around 2001 or so when Buckethead was opening for System of a Down and that Axl was in attendance. This was a little before I really got into GNR so it's not like he was trying to impress me or anything. He says he saw what looked like Axl from the back and he called out "AXL!" and Axl turned around. My dad says that they actually talked for a few mins. He asked him what made him decide to pick Buckethead and that Axl said Bucket was a really nice person and a great guitarist...something along those lines." My dad also said that he was completely mellow and not all crazy like he had heard. Just goes to show that Axl can be a cool guy. I actually talked to my dad's friend who was there too and he confirmed that it was Axl and that he was wearing a full yellow Nike suite.

I also used to see this lady who claims she met him once too. That she was working in an Antique store, around the same time 2000-01, and that Axl walked in one night with two security guards and bought some pots and pans lol She told him that she loved Guns N Roses and that he said thank you and was very polite.

Of course I am very jealous of both of them lol

It's cool to know they're all pretty cool and laid back. I personally kinda liked that one video that Bubbles (or his buddy or something) posted of Axl backstage. It's rare when you get to see one of your idols 'behind the scenes'. Axl certainly seems like a down-to-earth cat... was cool to hear him laugh in that video! Bubbles said something, or somebody did, and they got this surprised-laugh out of Axl. Was pretty cool. I'm extremely jealous you got to shoot-the-shit with him! Maybe if I'm lucky I'll score backstage passes when and if they come to the Baltimore area again and get the opportunity to meet some of them.

If there were dolphins in the backseat too you know it would have had to of been Axl!

I don't expect to ever meet Axl but if he ever went to an autograph signing in LA and I had thirty seconds, I'd just say I really appreciate and have been entertained by his musical works. I think 30 seconds would be the right amount of time because after that I'd probably be speechless. Anyway, if Dexter ever reads this: Thanks man!

I'm sure there's a lot of people who have probably been 5 feet from him in some store or restaurant in Santa Monica or Malibu and didn't even know it. Maybe he was at the same movie theater you were. And when he wants to draw attention to himself, he def. does that too.

David Lee Roth said this, a while back and I think it applies to most high profle types: when he's not working on anything being a private citizen, he doesn't make eye contact and people leave him alone, he goes biking around Pasadena frequently, so by the time anyone started wondering if that's really him, he's miles up the road. And when he wants the attention, he chooses when to bring it. It wouldn't surprise me if I saw him in Pasadena at the swap meet, or at Comic Con in San Diego... .case in point - have a friend who worked artist's alley who said Jessica Alba needed this army of security, but Johnny Depp was by himself checking out the artwork, and was able to move through the crowd undetected. People are paying more attention to the costumes.

He's had a lot of practice at flying under the radar in public over the years.
