misch
Great opener! My favourites so far are Only the Young and Hard Enough. From what I've heard so far this album will be fantastic and even better than Day & Age.

Inverted Mind
Brandon is SO good with lyrics. I always listen closely to lyrics, being a musician myself, and try and figure out the meanings of the songs. So far my favorite songs lyrically are Jilted and Playing with fire. They're genius. The bridge of Jilted is my faaavorite."You did a fine job of hidingthat crooked ace up your sleepyou double down my directionyou kiss me on the cheek and leavei followed you through darknessi followed you through the coldbut woman i can tell you one thingyou're gonna wish you could back and fold"KILLS ME (see what I did there..). GIVES ME CHILLS.My favorite lines from Playing With Fire: "That road outside that you've been taking home foreverthat'll be the same road that i take when i departThose charcoaled veins that hold this chosen land togethermay twist and turn but somewhere deep there is a heart"Sooooooo goooooood."Rollin' river of truthcan you spare me a sipthe holy fountain of youthhas been reduced to a drip" Mmmmm. Tell me those aren't great lyrics.EDIT: Also the drummer from the Killers Ronnie will be coming out with solo material. Dead Flower
So far my favorite songs lyrically are Jilted and Playing with fire. Yes, these two are my fav atm. There's something so endearing about the lyrics on this album. Brandon's so willing to bare his soul, and it's such an innocent, romantic, nostalgic and optimistic soul. The stripped back nature of the music on the album also puts his voice and his words at the forefront, which I love.Playing With FireJilted LoversOnly The Young Hard Enough...... all glorious.Still digesting the rest of the album. you brandon. Dead Flower
Love this verse:Perhaps this calling is the channel of inventionI will not blush if others see it as a crimeHowever dangerous the road, however distantThese things won't compromise the will of the designTen thousand Demons hammer down at every footstepTen thousand Angels rush the wind against my backThis church of mine may not be recognised by steepleThat doesn't mean that I will walk without a God
Inverted Mind
After listening to the songs I didn't like as much more I am starting to love them! I really looooove the vintage feel of Jacksonville, and the chorus is great. And Right behind you is good too.
Kickingthehabit
The record has a sad, lonely desert vibe. I can picture Brandon and his horse among the cacti and tumbleweeds, as he searches for the gold-hearted boy he used to be. I don't know if I like this as much his stuff with The Killers, but his lyrics have never been better.. Dead Flower
needs a few listens. love the bonus tracks. I Came Here To Get Over You - short, fun and insanely catchy.Jacksonville - kinda spacey and chilled.Right Behind You - gorgeous, love the backing vocals at 2:43. inthisriver
Its a very solid solo effort that exceeded any expectations I may have had. I still can't wait for the Killers to get in the studio and to give us something fresh. But I think this was definitely worth the break. Shuffle
Didn't really enjoy this album that much. It's definitely a step up from Day & Age which kinda sucked (imo) and a move "back" towards the sound of Sam's Town, which is exactly the direction I want him and The Killers to continue in. The problem is just that the songs here aren't as good as on Sam's Town (and there's absolutely nothing on here that's even close to When You Were Young). There's a couple of good songs on here though, and the arrangements are pretty nice, but overall the album just leaves me with a "meh, this was nice" feel, and no real will to listen to it more...here's hoping that the next Killers album is better.
