New Computer - Again?

A few months back I posted a topic asking for desktop recs, and I ended up with an HP. I didn't really end up having much of a say in the computer. it was a gift, and it was expensive.

Like I said back then, I'm not -awful- with computers, but compared to most of you, I'm not very good. To the point, just now I got linked to a friends site and now my computer is fucked.

With what, I don't know. My internet connection is fine, but the homepage is changed and I can't access any other sites. Then an anti malware program was installed and of course, I can't uninstall it. There are popups like crazy saying I have a hacker, and my C drive is infected. I can't tell which is the virus and which is my computer.

I was asking for it, I didn't back anything up (It's just a personal computer, new, but I don't really have any thing worth backing up any way..).

I don't have the money to take it in to a shop, so does this mean I'm going to have to reinstall Windows 7? I have no clue what to do, nor do I know what's infected. I'm on a different computer for now but will have to fix this before school. This sounds absolutely retarded, I know it was my fault but I'm freaking out.

If you are unable to get any of your files off of your hard drive then I would just reinstall the OS. Maybe someone else might know how to recover files, but reinstalling the OS Im pretty sure is always going to fix any problems you have since it formats the drive.

I'd start up on Safe Mode and try to connect to the internet and download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Using MalWarebytes, conduct a full system scan. It should detect the malware and remove it. It'll probably require a reboot after removing the malware.

Also, from the sound of your post I'd suggest getting some better antiviral programmes. There's plenty of good, free ones out there. I'd suggest Avira It offers fantastic Real-Time protection to stop threats as they attempt to enter your PC from the internet.

Oh my god, I love you. Thank you so much! I could kiss you right now, my computer's back to normal!

Thanks you two for the input :shades:

You might want to run Super Anti Spyware and Hijack this.

Malware is an awesome tool, but it doesn't detect everything.

Also you might want to change the name of these icons on your desktop, in case it happens again - because if does - 9 times of 10, whatever you are infected with, won't let you open it.
