Anybody who says Slash needs to bin the tophat they most likely have on, cut their dyed, curled locks, bin the leather jacket, and strip the retarded Slash posters from their walls. Anybody with ears can tell that CD is by far the better album, and Axl is easily a better musician than Slash.

God, people are stupid. Stop trying to pretend that your opinion is the truth (this is exactly why I never really discuss GN'R/Slash etc on this forum, it's useless).

Anyway, I definitely prefer CD. It's not the greatest album of all time and it has huge flaws but the songwriting is often stronger and above all it's an interesting listen while Slash's album bored me halfway through the first time I heard it. And it's not really gotten any better. It's got a couple of good songs, and his guitarplaying is actually really good, but pretty much none of the singers are good enough here which is a shame.

Lyrics? They are downright laughable more often than they are good. Its overproduced and impersonal, rock music is raw and meaningful. Better rock album, Slash. Better industrial/whatever album, CD. Fans of Guns n Roses (actual GNR) like rock music, not stuff like most of what you find on CD. But this is just such a tired argument and the wrong venue for it, its like going to Mexico and talking shit about Mexican food.

this post is everything wrong with this forum

derrr my opinion is fact derrr

derrrr real gnr derrrr

derrrrrr real gnr fans think what i think derrrrrr

derrrrrr its like going to ______ and talking shit about ______

Point is, Slash's album is better if you like cliche riff-rock ala We're All Gonna Die/Doctor Alibi, and silly guest spots with popular singers of the year, ala Beautiful Dangerous/Gotten

CD is better if you like music, ala TWAT/Better.

If you think Gotten is better than This I Love you know nothing about music.

While I agree with you at the beginning...you turn hypocritical and lose me.

I prefer Slashs Album.

CD tries to hard. Over produced. Axl and the lyrics have feel...but the songs themselves dont. The music itself is shite.

Slash is a straight up no frill rock album. We get nice little sentimental songs like Saint is a sinner and then balls to the wall rock with the Dr. Alibi.

Iggy Pop wrote some shocking lyrics...but thats just Iggy. The music and lyrics (elsewhere) are great on the album.

Just my opinion.

Listened to CD and Slash today. My opinion is confirmed now more than ever that CD is a superior album on every level and has much more replay value. Others no doubt will disagree but CD has more passion, better vocals, better lyrics, more impressive production and superior musical displays

I'm not sure I've ever seen a worse post on this forum before.

I far prefer Chinese Democracy. I thought Slash was generic and boring since day one.

I think you just cant handle that most people see CD for what it is. ITW, IRS, TIL, Scraped, Sorry, Riad, and Madagascar arent just mediocre songs, they are BAD. I cant argue that there arent bad spots on Slash's album (Fergie should never be anywhere near the album), but most of CD is garbage.

I don't go out of my way to listen to either album anymore, there are songs on both that I dislike and there are songs that I love.

But having thought about it there are more songs on "Slash" that I hate, plus that album just sounds like a clusterfuck to me, the songs don't blend at all.

So I vote CD, even though a lot of it sounds cheesy to me.

For me I'd give a slight edge to CD. It has some terrible stuff (Riad, Shackler, Scraped) but it also has some really good stuff (TWAT, ITW, Prostitute, Sorry). Slash is probably more consistent but also isn't as ambitious so it doesn't ever reach the heights of CD's best stuff. All in all neither is great but both are good IMHO.

CD = 7.5/10

Slash = 7/10
