I very rarely post here, but lurk constantly.

I have been a fan since the late '80s, and this was my first show.

One word: AMAZING.

Axl looked good, the band was tight as hell, and his voice sounded epic. The crowd was great, the set was great, and the entire night was truly memorable. I dragged my brother, who didn't give two shits about GNR, and he talked about the show the whole way home.

DJ is fantastic. You've seen the pics of him playing on stage with that little girl, but he also took off into the crowd until he was eventually mobbed. He was a great showman.

Axl was in a great mood, telling stories and interacting with everyone.

It was a serious bucket-list moment I was able to scratch off.

Never, EVER, miss your chance to see this band. There are so few true rock bands left, and GnR absolutely crushed it on Friday.

But in an era of noise ordinance-abbreviated sets and multimedia onstage experiences -- GnR's visual accompaniments were, by turns, hilariously cheesy (dancing girls in lingerie) or completely incomprehensible -- going onstage late and playing until 1:30 a.m. is pretty rock and roll.

What does this mean? There were women in lingerie on stage?!

And oh, seriously, why does everybody complain that the vocals were too low in the mix? Why don't they fix that?

yeah that part of the review was a bit confusing to me also. i think it was a compliment but in a very odd and twisted way. i think the review was overall very positive, as was the dallas review that i posted in other threads. both these guys said they sounded great and that axl is not fat at all. the dallas reviewer plainly said that these guys sound better than the original lineup, and didn't bother even mentioning that slash is gone. only real complaints were too many solos.

They meant on the video screens.

Here is my full review and story of the Houston concert. My wife and I got to Houston around 3pm. The plan was to relax before the concert. Getting closer to the concert my wife started feeling really sick. She is pregnant for the first time, so it is hitting her hard! Loooong story about that is, she couldnt make it to the concert. So, last minute I ended up leaving to the concert by myself. Before I entered the arena I saw this guy wanting to buy a tix, but couldnt make up his mind. I sold it to him, cheap! I needed to make something. Showtime! I have seen GNR several times and Axl was the happiest that I could remember! The crowd was really into it. The arena looked soooo packed, all the way up to the 400 sections. The band played sooo tight and they really have a good time playing music with each other. Axl's voice was in top shape! I wish the "critics " could of heard him on this night. I love some of the new twists that the band adds to some of the classic songs. Too cool! I was happy that they played Shackler's Rev again, it sounded sooo good! The fn pyro at the end of PC is fn epic! On to the aftershow... After the concert a few of us were escorted to the back . The person that was escorting us, was Jarmo. I was in front of the line, so I called his name and gave him a handshake. I dont think anyone really knew who he was. They took us to this large room and we just sat down waiting to see what is gonna happen. Del waks in, and nobody really knew who he is. I called his name, and took a pic with him. Richard came in next. Then DJ, Ron with Poc, Frank, and Tommy. I got to take pics and get autographs from everyone. I let DJ know that I really liked his ballad, and he was really honestly thankful for my comment. Cool guy! The main person I chatted with for a while was Ron, great fn guy! We talked about his work with tv shows, his first time playing with GNR. It was really fun and easy talking to the guy. He introduced me to POC. What a great girl she is. She is from Mexico City, so I started talking to her in Spanish. She was a lil surprised at first. We all started talking about her album coming out, hopefully sooon! It was kinda like I was living in a dream, it was toooo cool hanging out with members from my fav band. At the end Beta walks in and I thanked her for what she has done. She was too nice, she said thank you guys for coming to the show. I even had her sign my CD booklet.
