OTHAFA
Awesome. Can anyone sit there with a straight face and say a trademark Axl scream wouldn't sound perfect over those opening guitar riffs?GNR reunion k thx.

Kelmi
I think the song is missing something important. I really like the chorus though, thanks to mean guitars.
Towelie
It's not very good, is it?Most tracks on "Slash" were better than this.

feconroses
Weak. Its a fun, simple, straight-forward rock n roll song, but something special is missing.Maybe its a grower?
ChineseDemocracy2004
This will grow on me over time.At the moment it reminds me of a Snakepit song.
Slaxls
Weak.Yeah, weak. The song is very average. Also, has anybody noticed that slash's soloing on studio tracks these days seems a bit...out of time, I mean he seems to hit the notes just ever so slightly behind or before the beat, and not in a good way, like its out of time and jarring kind of way, like hes struggling to hit the note, but he does it all the time so its being done on purpose. Its annoying - he used to hit the money notes all the time, bang on the point where you wanted them when he was in gnr and snakepit, now we get this sloppy crap from him (i know he said something about it being sloppy on purpose) but it sounds wrong. Listen to that solo and you'll see what i mean.He is also not doing anything impressive musically or technically here.We know he can still play good solos, we have heard them in concert (look at how he improvises over rocket queen for example)Where is that LIVE AWESOMENESS gone?? He has the talent, we have been seeing it WHERE DOES IT GO IN THE STUDIO???That solo was bland and didnt go anywhere - it never got to that 'fuck yeah' moment that he used to do so well. It kind of drips in, stays for a boring ride them fucks off without asking.Meh.frankly I was hoping he might do something a little more along the lines of this, which is similar in style, but is more urgent, aggressive and gets your blood pumping a lot more (i.e - balls - I suppose its difficult when myles has no balls!) : Also, is that Myles doing back up vocals as well??Why isnt fucking Todd doing them???????? for fucks sake! And why is Myles doing the fucking rhythm guitar work too???? isnt that insulting to the rhythm guy in the band???Too much myles input i think. Not enough 'band'.Im sure it might grow on me, but its not amazing by any standards. The last part seems to have something going for it, where he repeats 'i dont need you to save me any more' - if THAT part was developed then perhaps it would be better. I can imagine in the past he would have jammed this out further and that repeated guitar lick would have turned into a blistering solo over the vocals (like what he used to do in gnr) and myles could get screamier and angrier until fade out...I suppose you need a singer like Axl to inspire that kind of thing though...urgh...Dammit - I wish I produced this record, I could tell him how to make his material great Edited February 27, 2012 by Slaxls
Dead Flower
the riff that kicks in at the 20sec mark has such a fuckin swagger. chorus is heavy but radio friendly catchy. can't wait to get this at higher quality. slashman delivers again. KiraMPD
Bit of a dilemma; I made the mistake of reading the comments and now I can't bring myself to listen to the song...
collision-tammi
I like the song, but the sound is a little bit 'clean'... especially when you hear the Adler song after it.
Coma16
Sounds like I've heard this song before. Solo is pretty cool though. Not as good as most Slash (album) tracks.

Turn_It_Up
Good review:=====================SLASH, ‘YOU’RE A LIE’ – SONG REVIEWby: Amy Sciarretto 10 minutes agoEMIThe first taste of Slash‘s new album, ‘Apocalyptic Love,’ due out May 22, is upon us in the form of the lead single ‘You’re a Lie.’ The tune is a rowdy, bluesy rocker, anchored by Slash’s signature riffing and style. You know it’s Slash the minute his fingers hit the strings. But it’s not Slash trying to recapture his Guns N’ Roses glory or repaving familiar territory. He’s authored a distinct style that’s uniquely Slash on his solo work. The song has lots of building tension, which starts in the verses and then explodes like a powder keg in the choruses. Vocalist Myles Kennedy also adds another layer of bluesy firepower to the song. He and Slash are quite a tandem, and their singer/lead guitarist chemistry is palpable and their talents are totally complimentary. Kennedy’s vocal style, which is dramatic, blues-influenced and high, is the perfect fit for Slash — just like that guy Axl Rose‘s was. It’s a testament to Slash’s universal tone. A variety of voices pair perfectly with his playing and that’s no small feat. It’s totally evident on ‘You’re a Lie,’ too.The song is a kiss off to the other half of a fractured relationship or someone who has wronged you, with singalong-worthy phrases like, “All my faith has been wasted, wasted” and “I don’t need you to save me anymore.” It’s all about telling that person not to let the door hit ‘em in the rump. There’s lots of deep grooves on ‘You’re a Lie,’ too. If you’re not tapping your toes throughout and hitting the “repeat” button to listen multiple times, then you have no soul!http://loudwire.com/slash-youre-a-lie-song-review/
rolle
I think its excellent. Slash's playing has really matured. The solo is very tasteful and he's doing some interesting tremelo picking arpeggios during the verses. It's cool
Chewbacca
Bit weak, true. Again, it looks like a generic hardcore 2000's band, with better riffs, and a glam touch. BTW, the reviewer felt this had a bluesy feel? The fuck?
RocketQueen1985
I liked the riff in the beginning of the song but the song itself didn't make a huge impression on me.
Naupis
Generic sounding....yes.Catchy...absolutely.I think for a first single that is important. It is easyily accessible, gets you tapping your foot, and sounds like Slash. The fact it's 3:42 almost gives away it was built for radio. If no one likes your first single and it can't get any airplay your album is doomed, so it is important to release something that will suck people in, which this song does. Mission accomplished. TeeJay410
Well. To compare it to the first single from the last record, its no By the Sword. I just don't like Myles Kennedy. I try and try, but his voice is just annoying. If Scott sang on this track, it may have been totally different.
