for some special performances in other shows..its a cool addition

but a whole concert with a hologram...meh

If this had been a whole show, it'd be different. The way they did this was tasteful. A single song, right after a song Pac made famous. Nothing wrong there.

I don't see how this is different from a theatrical release of the recording of a show. It's a digital video record of an artist performing, played to a large audience. Except in this case it's a technical novelty.

Because those represent an authentic document of a time or moment in time past whereas this is the reproduction of a dead human being in the now. It's sort of the difference between Norman Bates keeping a picture of his mum on the mantlepiece and keeping her taxidermised corpse in the fruit cellar and dressing up in her clothes and talking for her.

Yeah, I was under the impression that it was just a recording of a performance by the guy himself (in which case I still think it wouldn't be any different from for example Queen using Freddy's recording of the Bohemian Rhapsody opera part during the Tribute Concert or any other live+recorded show) but I read now that it was all artificial and I concede it's less tasteful but still I don't see what the big deal is. They made an image of him rapping on stage, isn't that what he did during his lifetime ? If they made a porno or something like that, than yeah, outrage would make sense

Anyway, here's a couple of funny pics:

How fuckin cheap and pathetic is that? Fuckin let the man fuckin die, what a bunch of leeches and i'll include his mum Afeni in that, Makaveli clothing and umpteen fuckin substandard albums with shit beats based around throwaway single verse that Pac did and then featuring fuckin artists that Tupac probably wouldn't've pissed on if they were on fire...and Dre is the biggest fuckin snake around, by all accounts he HATED Tupac, as in despised him right from the beginning, HATED the fact that he was basically coerced into giving California Love to Pac, that song was meant to be on a never-came-to-fruition comeback album with Dre and Cube, of which Natural Born Killaz was to be a taster...U Can't C Me too, that was meant to be on that album. He even hated Pacs verse on it, California Love was meant to be a chilled out beef avoiding type track and Tupac came on there spitting his gang related shit and Dre hated him for it...and when he left Death Row well anybody whoose heard a Pac tune or two knows EXACTLY what Pac had to say about him then...and here's this fuckin idiot prancing around in the desert with a Tupac hologram 15 years after he died. Sad and sick.

Releasing notebooks that he scribbled in when he was 15 and all that, for fuckssake..

I agree. But damn, that gave me some goosebumps.

Well they're making a dead person speak and choosing what he says. Do you not think it's a little weird? I mean, alright, so alls he's saying is whattup Coachella but it's the principle of it. It's one thing to just have a recording of the person but then to make him speak, in the here and now, i dunno, to me there's just something slightly immoral about it. I mean, that was a real human being and people are using him post mortem to cynically make money off of him. I mean, just think how much money is made off his name every day, posthumous albums, clothing brands, books, dvds, cds, mp3, all manner of merchandising, legit and bootlegged...and then this, i mean just imagine how much money is sunk into this/made out of his name.

Now i wonder how much money of that is spent on actually trying to solve the poor cunts murder...it's sick...just goes to show you, where there's a fuckin quid to be made your mum ain't even your mum anymore. I mean no one made Freddie Mercury speak from beyond the dead, did they? I mean, no one made him come onstage and like, make statements for fucking gay rights or comment about how 9/11 horrified him. It ain't just a recording of him it's recreating him in the now, referring to things that he couldn't possibly refer to because he's dead. These people are fucking snakes.

it's disrespectful and cheap and awful deifying of someone who was a million times more interesting as a flesh and blood human being than he is as someones fucking light show. This is a person that had SOO much to say and represented SOO much for SOO many people and he's been reduced to something that you might expect to fall out of a packet of rice krispies in the early 90s.

Human beings ain't fucking chess pieces, they have feelings and minds and opinions and when they're fucking dead we should have enough respect to let them die and resign ourselves to that fact instead of going "y'know, if Pac was around, i'm pretty sure he'd be playing Coachella with Snoop and Dre, despite him hating Snoops guts.

It's like Axl dying tommorow and then next Coachella him being onstage by way of hologram with the rest of Guns and everyone going, y'know, i bet Axls looking down on us from heaven and going oh gee whizz, if only i'd've made it up with Slash before i popped my clogs, i know, lets make our estimation of his post mortem wish come true and stick em onstage together, Axl would've liked that!

Dude you know as well as do the police couldnt give a shit about Pacs murder and frankly neither do I as much as I love him. Fact is, Pac was a smart kid, educated like a motherfucker but decided he could just throw bullshit at the Bad Boy guys and act like a fucking idiot running his mouth. Talk about how you gotta premonition about dying soon, well shit you thinks gonna happen when you talk shit about everyone?

The police are fuckin scum though, they never gave a shit about nobody but as far as me or you or whatever, thats something else but fuck man, a persons loved ones?!?! I mean look at that Stephen Laurence case, his old man and his mum are like, still fighting, to this day for justice for their kid. And they ain't fuckin rich, they're just ordinary folk. And then there's this guy, famous as fuck, held up as a legend, has millions of fans that claim to love the bastard, has a family and a whole network of his people out in the fuckin world, access to tons and tons and tons of money and yet all these people wanna do is sell jeans and posters and nobody wants fuckin justice or closure for this man that was gunned down on the fuckin strip in front of scores of fuckin people, it's just crooked man. I ain't one of those fuckin nutbag internet theorists who things like...y'know, Elvis beamed down from Mars and did it, i'm just lookin' at it from a straight forward sober point of view of, OK, you got all these people with all this love for this guy...why is his murder unsolved? Why does making money off of his name and fuckin cheap shit like this, which clearly makes a lot of money for a lot of folks, take prescedent over justice for this fuckin guy whoose dead?

i would agree that this was an awesome event if this was just gunna be a one time thing as it is a pretty cool tribute to Pac (no pun intended), but the fucking hologram has a twitter account, really? that's the real insulting thing about the whole thing.

yeah, fuckin spot on, i'm glad you've said that, you're the only person i've heard say it aside from myself and it fuckin needs to be said. i think she gets a break cuz she's like, deified in a way as the subject matter for Dear Mama and the poor Panther lady that had to get guards to give her boiled eggs in prison for nourishment for the son (Pac) in her womb but fuck, the shit needs to be said. It's like Puffy and the way he's sort of been living off of BIG's fuckin grave since 1997. I think Method Man called him out on it recently, or 50, or both.

Exactly what it boils down to.man. And what the fuck does Puff do in music these days anyway? All he had was his first album and no.ones given a shyt him about since. That being said saying him n biggie set pac up is bullshit. Like I said pac started that whole fuckin' feud. Hit em up crossed the line and as much as I love Makaveli that album proves Pac was a fuckin' idiot. Bomb first? Motherfucker was dead before anyone got to hear that fuckin' song. The real fuckin thugs bombed first.

It's a ridiculous little game that nobody ever wins. As far as Pac and who killed him, my opinion of it is a lot less...like...y'know, espionage-ish, i think it's pretty clear, the guy they fucked up the night of the Tyson fight on that CCTV, he just came back and shot him, seems to be the clearest obvious answer to the question, i don't think it was set up of any kind on the part of anybody. But it'd be fuckin nice to know though, at least, y'know, there be some kind of official fuckin line drawn under this by the people upstairs. A lot more gets said on that Makaveli too, about all sorts of people, Haitian Jack that he talks about is Jacques Agnant, a former Haitian associate of Tupacs who was later found out to be a Federal grass.

It's all ridiculous and silly and at the end of the day, everybody but the rappers has won. Suges still around, Puffys still around, Afeni's still around, Loretta Wallace is still around, the children of the 90s have got their own little James Dean to wank off over, Hip Hop has it's first Bona Fide international Gods, the only people that have lost out here is Biggie and Tupac, everybody else wins.

Fuckin 25 years old and dead and for what? It's just fuckin sick...really makes me sad, the guy was SUCH a fuckin talent. I honestly think as an actor he would've been fuckin spectacular and, in fact, WAS fuckin spectacular. I mean to stand up alongside actors like Tim Roth and put in these performances and steal the show, it shows a fuckin talent. The guy was such a fuckin prodigious talent, all these albums, 5 fuckin movies, he got SOOO much done and he was alive and famous from like, what, 91 to 96? Thats 5 fuckin years, he reminds me of Bruce in a way who was also like that, y'know, alive and famous for like, even less, like 3 years and he made 5 movies and those Tao of Jeet Kune Do books and left a serious fuckin indelible legacy. He was such a great orator too and he had like, natural leadership qualities i think. I mean you see him at this Key Note speech dinner for Malcolm X and he's like this 21 yr old kid and he's seriously drilling these old school black activists on the world that they inherited and like, y'know, not pulling any punches, really giving it to them and he's a captivating orator they applaud the guy and seriously listen to this kid like, more or less having a go at them. For someone with little formal education thats pretty good going i think.

You can tell from his interviews just what a sharp and intelligent guy he was, it's such a shame it's lost in a storm of fuckin W hand signals and 'Thug Life' and Gangsta shit cuz he was SOOO much more than that and SOOO much bigger and better than that.

Thats the speech i was talking about, in case anyones interested. This is why it really pisses me off when people take the piss out of hip hop and try and make it out to be a bunch of fuckin thick black monkeys that go around givin' it large for the sake of it without actually getting knee deep and trying to understand exactly why shit is the way it is. They make a cartoon out of people like this because it's a way of avoiding the real shit he had to say although i guess he didn't exactly help himself in that respect much.

190% agree with you man. The way I always think of it is like how GN'R wasn't a hair metal band even though they came from that scene - Appetite was gritty not polished and they music was about how shit all the LA scene and drugs and how shit their fuckin lives were whereas all the Motley Crues and that bullshit was like party on fuckers this is the best. Same with Pac. 2pacalypse Now to Me Against The World, Pac was Axl Rose. All Eyez on Me and Makaveli, 2Pac was Vince fuckin' Neil. He rapped about the problem and in the end his bullshit came full circle and he was THE PROBLEM. Don't get me wrong, I love both those albums, but the guy on So Many Tears was a different guy on those albums not just another facet of his personality or what shit.
