I don't think he deserves the name Gn'R. Last time I checked Gn'R was Axl, Fortus, Asha, Bumblefoot, Stinson, Dizzy, Pittman and a drummer. They are just as Gn'R as Axl.

I wish I was like you; easily amused.

Slash, Duff, Izzy and Steven were unprofessional addicts who lacked professionalism. The current band are more talented and will write the best rock album of all time. Chinese Democracy is the tip of a very large and successful iceberg.

Izzy and Duff were sober when they decided they were fed up and left the band.

Want to talk professionalism?
- Never on stage on time
- Never show up for rehearsals
- Use the first shows of the tour as practice
- Don't bother to work out to stay fit
- Don't bother to turn up to a recording studio (just listen over the phone)
- Lawsuits left and right because you simply can't get your shit together
- New manager... New manager... New manager... New manager... (I can't wait for a tell all story from one of them)
- Don't keep contact with your band members, only when you feel necessary
- Cancel shows/tours without proper reason
- Everything done on your terms
- Take YEARS to release new music, and why? Exactly
- Doesn't bother to promote anything

I still can't believe people defend Axl on the record company part, saying the record company messed it all up. NO! See it this way, if you had invested millions of dollars and 15 f#cking years of patience into this man, wouldn't you be fed up by now!?

Another thing, I can't slate the current band for their technical abilities, they seem up to par. HOWEVER, being able to play music has got absolutely NOTHING to do with wrting good songs. Look to the thousands of bands who can't shred 6000 notes per second or play every style on the planet, but still have written some of the best songs of all time.

None of those points is valid.

I just find the whole argument is against everything GNR represents.

Axl is GNR because he "legally" owns the name.

When the fuck has GNR ever stood for or been about what is legal under state and federal laws?!

It degrades everything GNR stood for, represented and contributed to rock n roll when they hit the scene - adding a much needed infusion of trouble-making to RN'R in the late-80s.

Axl doesn't deserve Guns N' Roses but he has it, he legally has it and there's nothing to change that. He should have done more with the name though, starting back in 2001 with the Chinese Democracy era.

I can tell you one thing, carrying that big name on his own, being the only original member, changing the musical direction and shit, must have been a pain in the fuckin' ass. I can give Axl props for keep trying. :shrugs:

he is the last standing of the ones who had a part of the ownership;

the others didnt leave at once, but on a 6-7 years period of time;

Slash, Duff, Izzy never (oficially) regrouped as or had any demands on the name;

deserving is a too complex term for this;

having the rightful ownership in terms of law, yes he has.

Great post.

Gn'R is a band - more than a name.
