Another classic Bond formula is that the third film is always the best of the tenure. I always read that on Bond forums and as a general consensus on casual movie sites. Personally I think it's just more Goldfinger dick sucking. TSWLM is probably Roger's best but not my personal favorite. GoldenEye is Brosnan's best but I have a soft spot for TWINE. Skyfall is another one for the argument, but I might just prefer Casino Royale by a hair.

TWINE was so close to hitting the mark - with a bit of tweaking, it could've gone from being a decent film to a great film. It had great locations, a captivating story, one of the better title songs post-Dalton, one of the best pre-title sequences of the whole series, and good villains. If they just got rid of Christmas Jones and a couple other small tweaks, it could've made a world of difference.

I think MGM just got too afraid of straying too far from the "Brosnan formula" and forced a bit of creative control on EON. TWINE shows that they wanted to do something a bit grander for Pierce, but the Bond cliches and shoehorned action really cloud the narrative.

TWINE is probably my biggest Bond movie regret out of any, other than possibly DAF and completely ignoring what happened at the end of OHMSS.

The plot of TWINE is probably the most relevant of any Bond movie in the modern era. Bond finally faces someone who is his equal. Sophie Marceau. Fantastic theme song.

And then they cast Denise Richards as a nuclear physicist for christ sake. So fucking disappointing...

Good news. I love Daniel Craig as James Bond. He's very good in the role. And with him in the lead, Bond really is both cool and lethal.

Let's make sure it stays a rumour. It's far too early anyways.

God no!

Sam Smith was bad enough. So sick of pop singers singing Bond songs. You need a strong voice to make it special.

I think Axl should sing the next Bond song.:headbang:

I guess Daniel is formally entering his "Axl Rose" years.

He'll whip himself back into shape in time.

Yep. Just looks like he's gained a bit of weight to me. Plus that lighting makes it look a little more lifeless. I'm not worried.

Yeah it's funny how much the tabloids blew it up. He just looks bloated. God forbid the man enjoys a burger and some video games in his time off!

I don't know much about Danny Boyle TBH - I've never seen any of his films except Trainspotting and 28 Days Later. Good fit for Bond or no?

I'm not all that familiar with him. He seems to be getting a mixed reception on the Bond boards - he's allegedly abandoning whatever P&W have written so far in favour of his usual screenwriter doing it which potentially means a rushed script if they do plan on shooting by the end of the year.
