The James Bond Thread: RIP Robbie Coltrane

Connery had a good reign.

Yeah this is the quiet time for the thread. Skyfall's blu ray release

and if Black Sabbath isn't looking, DVD release for those who love their wallets
will give us plenty to discuss, nit-pick and fight about. Maybe MGM will throw us a bone and give us a picture of grass for pre-production.

I'd welcome a picture of grass as a pre-production teaser provided that there's a mowed patch with "Sam Mendes signs to direct Bond 24" written in it.

I was also expecting mid-March based on when Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace hit shelves. I'll glady welcome February!

I remember Die Another Day didn't come out on DVD until June 2003. It's funny how things have changed. I still remember when VHS would come out to rent and then it was almost a year later before you could buy a copy.

You should do it, $2 more towards its final gross. ;)

Here's the latest:

Domestic - $301,252,887

Foreign - $776,500,500

Worldwide - $1,077,752,887

Now the 8th highest grossing film of all time and less than $4 million away from beating The Dark Knight Rises. Thanks China!

I actually agree with Layne here. It has to be Connery. Craig needs at least two more good Bonds before we can even consider him in Connery's class (and then, the answer will still be probably 'Connery' because of that man's amount of coolness).

I always felt people choose Connery because he did it first.

As with every Bond actor, it's best to wait until their "era" is complete before assessing their work with the role. As much as I love Connery, no Bond actor has phoned it in as badly as he did in You Only Live Twice, so that will always be a mark against him for me. So far, Daniel Craig is 3 for 3 when it comes to his performances as 007, so here's hoping he can remain engaged and excited about it as long as he's got the role.

Connery is an awesome bond, no doubts... However, I do feel he gets extra credits for being the original. That doesn't really matters to me. His movies are mostly very good, but as James Bond per se, I'm not a huge fan of him. Can't get over the fact I find him too ugly lol

Exactly, even Roger Moore looked like he was into it in his SEVENTH film. If that doesn't make him the best, it certainly made him the most dedicated.

I suppose I'll be the only here who thinks this, but I still believe Connery phoned it in more in DAF. I think he looked more worn out and tired in YOLT, but DAF is just on a whole nother level of bad.

In fact, other than Die Another Day, I'd say DAF is my least favorite movie.
