James Bond
So Daniel Craig had that live Q & A interview thing last night. I haven't got fully caught up yet but from what I can see from the Bond forum: - Craig is not emotionally done with the role and wants to put the "slash my wrists" stuff to bed for good - Barbara is producing Craig's upcoming Othello so clearly they're still interested in working together - The character of Bond truly believes he is leaving the service after SPECTRE but naturally there is unfinished business - The Hiddleston stuff was completely untrue - there's been no movement from MGM, so fuck MGM Basically a lot of stuff we already knew or put two and two together to figure out, but nice to hear from the man himself. I remain convinced he isn't done.
Crazyman
Still, Craig didn't seem like he was ready to hang up the role for good. "As far as I'm concerned, I've got the best job in the world. I'll keep doing it as long as I still get a kick out of it," he said. Then, later: "If I were to stop doing it, I would miss it terribly." Yeah, I'd say he's coming back but MGM is taking its sweet ass time like we thought they would and it's actually working for Craig so he can recharge his batteries a bit. Aka we'll be waiting a while for a new Bond film, but Craig will still be Bond for at least one more

I'm not particularly hopeful for a 2018 release though after hearing there's basically been no movement forward on it. Still, I'd rather have them take their time and get one more killer Craig film than get two mediocre Craig films (Or no more Craig films for that matter...) Craig just makes it sound like they all needed a break after SPECTRE.
Powerage5
Can't really blame anyone for that. It was probably the biggest Bond production ever. Not to mention the pressure to deliver a great follow-up to Skyfall.
Georgy Zhukov
I wish they would go back to a regular spy film such a From Russia with Love or On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

Or just tone is down again and focus on the story/character like Casino Royale. They seem to be falling into the same old trap of trying to outdo themselves with each movie.
Georgy Zhukov
Well it is kind of like tradition. They outdo the previous movie until they can't outdo it and they reset.
Crazyman
Right, but you'd think they would eventually learn from their mistakes, no? I mean Barbara and Michael are pretty smart people from the interviews I've seen from them, just tell Wade/Purvis to tone it down.
ZoSoRose
We are almost a year from Spectre. They need to get this shit together asap and get to work. Pay the guy, write a good movie, and shoot the thing. Id like Craig in at least one more home run

It was pretty clear that everyone was burned out, and I'd rather see them deliver a really kick-ass finale for Craig than two quickly produced but mediocre films. James Bond
If they just do a faithful adaptation of the You Only Live Twice novel and call it "Shatterhand" then they've already got half the battle won!

He's more nuanced than Moore and Connery although undoubtedly less charismatic than the latter. It's a shame the surrounding material is all fairly by the numbers. That is how Bond acts in the books basically, like Dalton: straitlaced.
Powerage5
Dalton is my second favorite. Can't help but love how serious he takes the role.
James Bond
Dalton is, without question, the closest portrayal to the literary Bond. Craig is like a hybrid of Dalton and Connery - literary Bond mixed with the charisma and charm of the cinematic Bond.
Crazyman
I'm going to get flamed back to hell for saying it, but....I think Trent Reznor should have a crack at scoring a Bond film. Particularly a 'back to basics, gritty' one. And that's coming from someone who likes Newman/Arnold. I just think it would be interesting to see what he could add. Georgy Zhukov
The Goldeneye score sounds like porn. Didn't they get another composer for the action scenes?
Crazyman
3 hours ago, Wagszilla said: I don't really see the fit too much. That's kinda the point. To have a Trent scored movie they would need to adjust the current formula, which I think is needed anyway. And while Trent's scores have generally been of one style, he's only worked on David Fincher movies at this point. It'll be interesting to see how his work on Patriots Day differs, but I think he'd be capable of changing his style slightly to work with the Bond audience either way. I hate the Goldeneye score, however Edited October 16, 2016 by Crazyman

Correct - the chase through the library stacks followed by the tank chase were scored by John Altman. He was the arranger/conductor for Eric Serra and was asked at the eleventh hour to score some of the music when some serious cold feet and reservations about Serra's score were brought about. On Her Majesty's Secret Service and From Russia With Love are my favorites. I can never get tired of Goldfinger, Thunderball, The Spy Who Loved Me, Skyfall, Casino Royale and Goldeneye. As I approach my 30's I have come to find that every Bond film has its own merits. Except for Die Another Day. That was shit. But without it we wouldn't have had Casino Royale.
