Tater Totts
You do realise it was written for the James Bond film of the same name?

luciusfunk
Isn't that what the thread is about? It's a Miser thread. There's some deeper meaning.
Tater Totts
In the film Bond fakes his death and starts a secret life! He also undergoes plastic surgery to look "more Japanese" in the film while crewting a new life, it seems the song relates to the life of a secret agent. Guest Len B'stard
Thank you Spuds, thats shagged another avenue of poigniancy and destroyed another dream for Miser "i've just found out a song that meant so much to me growing up and helped me through my childhood has turned out to be about Sean Connery doin' a Mr Miyagi!" Nobodys_Fault
Love the way they were used with Don Draper. That scene was perfect. I'd credit the deeper meaning you're getting to whoever wrote that finale because I'd agree that was the intention; Don himself has lived twice, once as Dick Whitman and once as Don Draper. Not everyone can do it though - Lane couldn't, Roger is trying and so is Pete. The whole thing contrasts with this line in particular: “Not every little girl gets to do what they want. The world could not support that many ballerinas.”The song itself though is very much a 'bond song.'
Use Your Delusion 1
film was better than Thunderball imo, but still worse than the Dr No, Goldfinger and of course From Russia with Love trio. Mind you the only bond's that have got close to that trio since are probably Living Daylights, Casino Royal, Skyfall and perhaps GoldenEye/Spy who Loved Me.edit: forgot For your eyes only, great film Edited December 22, 2012 by Use Your Delusion
Guest Len B'stard
Goldfingers better that Dr No. Both of em are a lot better than Diamonds are Forever, a judgement reflected in its poor showing at the box office, in which field of course Thunderball was a notable success.. Georgy Zhukov
The two Dalton films have really become fan favorites. I was really put off by their low placings on the tribute magazine. Especially The Living Daylights at 23. If any film should be 23 on any list it is Die Another Day. The movie just gets worse at every viewing and it has aged horribly. Did they delay Skyfall a year for the 50th? Because it seems they did that for Die Another Day which would have come out in 2001. Oh here's more terrible line from The World Is Not Enough. The scene where Bond and Christmas were trying to defuse the bomb in the pipleine and realized the bomb was tampered withBond: Somebody stripped the screw!Christmas: Someone has tampered with the Bond! No shit? Do we really need to be told twice? Just another excuse to have the famous actress Bond girl the last word.
Tater Totts
Nah don't think they did delay Skyfall, MGM's huge financial problems meant that their top upcoming films in Skyfall and The Hobbit were both delayed, as they both came out this year I would guess it was as early as they could get them out. James Bond
Merged in Miser's YOLT thread, since our Bond thread is still very much active I was thinking the same thing. Hobbit's doing good business so far so I don't think we need to worry.MGM didn't solve its financial issues until the tail end of 2010. EON Productions announced in January 2011 that they were finally given the "go ahead" to be able to resume production on Skyfall, with filming scheduled to start in November 2011 (which it did, literally the day of the press conference). Die Another Day was likely delayed to hit the 40th, but Skyfall was announced for 2011 shortly after Quantum had come out, so I think the delay was strictly MGM and like I mentioned before, it worked in favor of the 50th. Tater Totts
The Hobbits been out just over a week and it's on $262 million so it's doing very well. Skyfall is obviously doing amazing with $953 million worldwide. It might be a bit far off but I am looking forward to seeing how they deal with 24 and 25, especially 25 as it is th the anniversary and Craig's last contracted film. Georgy Zhukov
What was their expectations for Skyfall? I really hope Craig does Bond 26. He deserves it.
Tater Totts
Casino did $599 million and Quantum did $586 million so I think it might have surpassed their expectations
Georgy Zhukov
They had to expect at least $630 million. They couldn't have expected Skyfall to successful on a Connery scale. Edited December 23, 2012 by Georgy Zhukov
James Bond
MGM's initial prediction based on how much money it had been in the two weeks before the US release was $850 million worldwide. I bet they never thought it'd make money as fast as it did.Skyfall should be up to around $965 million by the end of this weekend. I've checked the scheduling for my local theater and it's playing through New Year's but that's as far as they have listed so far. I think that's even longer than The Dark Knight Rises stayed around at the same theater. It might even make a billion before it hits China in January. In any event, a billion is a given and it's been an impressive run.
Georgy Zhukov
How much did CR and QoS make in China? I think CR is the first Bond film to open in China. I certainly doubt DAD opened in China.I really hope they give Daniel Craig a raise. I hope they don't push him to quitting mode like he seemed to be in QoS. He was put under more physical stress than any Bond had to endure. Edited December 23, 2012 by Georgy Zhukov
James Bond
Casino Royale was indeed the first to open in China. It made $11.7 million in China, which was almost doubled by Quantum of Solace (which took in $21 million). Seeing as how Skyfall has smashed both of those films in every other territory, it'll no doubt smash Quantum's total there. I'd expect $30 million at least, but $50 million is certainly possible (that's what The Dark Knight Rises took in there - $52 million). Georgy Zhukov
Chinese numbers wouldn't count in comparison to other Bond films.
