Damn, this fan edit of QoS is way better than what we got - and I liked the original PTS quite a bit. This just works so much better:

I always envisioned that shot of Bond going into the main titles with a gun barrel like it is here. Was it edited like that in the trailer maybe? I feel like that might be where I got the idea from. Alternatively, there's no reason the gun barrel couldn't have opened onto that beautiful tracking shot that opens the film.

I like this edit. I always thought that the rooftop chase would have made for a better pre-title sequence since the car chase is such a mess.

That said, I've warmed to Quantum a lot over the years and think with a different director and some better editing it would feel like a tighter film even with the script left as is. Some of the more pretentious directorial decisions and the Bourne like editing make it feel so disjointed from Casino Royale. I wish they could have begged Campbell to come back and finish off that little arc.

I think I'm gonna do a full series re-watch soon (and maybe do a little writeup about it) - I have a feeling QoS is going to rank a lot higher than most would have it, despite its obvious faults.

I was going to do the same prior to No Time To Die but put those plans on hold when it got postponed. I've watched the odd film here and there but have not done a complete marathon since before Skyfall so I'm long overdue. There's a good number of the films that, at this point in my life, only get watched as part of the Bond marathon.

Amen. Some of these are gonna be difficult to sit through - there are bad Bond films that are just stupid, yet entertaining...then there's bad one's that are simply awful because of how boring they are.

I concur. In the sort of "in between" years if I'm in the mood for a Bond film I can't say Die Another Day or A View To A Kill come off the shelf too much.

But that said, no Bond is absolutely unwatchable to me and I'll happily sit through the tedium of Diamonds Are Forever or For Your Eyes Only (two films I find to be an absolute bore) when doing a rewatch.

I did my last marathon before SPECTRE, and I also got it mine on hold when NTTD got delayed. I’m itching to do it though, really only watched a few in the last year or so.

It's a shame for the girl who sung the theme song that the film got delayed. What an odd situation

Yeah but no music video has been released yet for that song. Just the audio. So come November I’m sure they’ll drop the music video for that song, and it’ll give the marketing for the movie a “second wind,” so to speak.

The weirdest thing about the delay to me is how they ran TV spots for a couple weeks following the announcement with the new date, and then they just dropped off completely. I suppose it was necessary to get the word out so to speak, but it just felt really jarring.

Yeah :/ unfortunately time was not on their side, when it comes to the marketing campaign.

Definitely a strange situation. On one hand, EON were totally ahead on delaying the film. Super smart move in hindsight. On the other hand, it was so bizarre coming from full tilt marketing to just absolutely nothing. They've started slowly dropping the odd still from the film on their social media pages again but for a while it was like it had disappeared entirely. I just hope they can recapture some of the hype. People were just buzzing with the title song and Billie Eilish's awards performance. The trailer was well received and even the tabloids had changed their tune about the "disastrous" production. Posters were everywhere. TV spots were on repeat. The Super Bowl one obviously cost s fortune. That just blows from a marketing perspective.

Although it has been kind of funny seeing so many Bond related magazine covers hitting shelves but with no film to accompany it.

Come on, EON. If you have to delay again just let me purchase it digitally. I'll pay $50 to watch it today.

It looks like an absurd Bond film and I kind of welcome that now! It's been a minute since we have had that!

Bring it on

I agree. The scale looks to be similar to that of YOLT/TSWLM, and not in a bad way. SPECTRE was a missed opportunity for an old school battle at the villain's lair, so it looks like we might be getting that this time around. It looks incredible, and so far it looks like the cinematography could rival Skyfall. Craig has earned going out on a high, and both of the trailers seem to indicate that he will indeed.

I feel like they've tweaked the marketing as a result of the delay to emphasize the spectacle of the film. Even the newest poster abandoned the more indie-style, teal colour scheme of the earlier posters and just went for a classic tux shot with gold and black as the main colours.

Side note - I do hope that's a bit of Zimmer's score we hear in the trailer. Thunderball vibes.

rubbish

you watch this trailer, and it's instantly forgettable. there is no humour, no suspense. just quick, stressfull sequences. only interesting bit was the vague bond theme, but even that was a bit  clumsy. I genuinly feel stressed out watching this.

THIS is how you do a good bond trailer:

Craig's tenure has gotten a bit lost in too much psychological weightiness and retconned (past) nonsense, but Casino Royal is still in my top 6 Bonds. This trailer depicts another action fest, another Tomorrow Never Dies or Quantum

No matter how NTTD ends up being as a whole, Rami Malek will 100% be a better villain than evil Steve Jobs. That alone can't put it in the same league as TND.

I wouldn't fear about the action. They've clearly changed the marketing in light of the delay/COVID to emphasize the spectacle of Bond as a cinema event. The film is 2 hours and 43 minutes, so while I expect this to be the most "classic" of Craig's Bond films in terms of action and Bond spectacle, they also have plenty of time to flesh out a decent story. Malek alone will make this a worthy entry in the series.
