The James Bond Thread: RIP Robbie Coltrane

Silva was just a loose cannon. The ring thing didn't make sense either. How can all those guys wear that one ring?

I'll have to see SPECTRE again but I took it to mean that the ring had been passed around, not necessarily that each guy had worn it but rather had come into contact with it. Or it could just be a secret handshake.

That was my impression also.

Jesus, only a month away. Skyfall came out in March 2013 (although the UK got it at the end of February). It doesn't take long these days. DAD, for example, didn't hit store shelves until June 2003. Granted, that was like farting in a bottle and revisiting the smell by opening it half a year later.

That is literally the best quote I've ever read about DAD

I re-watched Spectre. You can certainly see the flaws in the film - a certain penchant for high camp, franchise gymnastics, implausible scripting and plot holes and a title song which is unbelievably dreary - but I do like it; a good Bond if not one of the better ones. It basically does a lot which is bad but a lot which is rather grand. The cinematography for instance is breathtaking and it has two of the greatest Bond girls - Walz is also fantastic. I can forgive this film its sins somehow.

You're not wrong, and in a way, it's weird how it worked out that way. Unlike QOS where I sat disappointed the whole time, I was able to see through SPECTRE's flaws and just really enjoy it. Still a top Bond for me because there's so much good - the execution was just a little off.
