Georgy Zhukov
I wish someday, someone is going to spill the beans on what happened with the Pierce Brosnan films and why was the most anticipated Bond of all time turned out to be a letdown? Sure he was insanely popular and his films did really well but they were never on a Connery or even Roger Moore level. Brosnan seems to bitter and Barbara won't talk. Someone has to pump her for information.
Tater Totts
I think people were just getting a bit bored of Bond, especially with the Bourne films coming along. Didn't really help that the Brosnan films aside from Goldeneye were pretty disappointing. Brosnan seems to be pretty bitter about the direction the films took and seems the producers completely missed following up on Goldeneye's darker tone. Didn't really help that the Brosnan films aside from Goldeneye were pretty disappointing. Brosnan seems to be pretty bitter about the direction the films took and seems the producers completely missed following up on Goldeneye's darker tone.It seemed like no one seemed confident in pushing the series in new directions after Cubby's death so they went a safer route. The basic foruma but with more explosions, machine gun fire and hip young actresses to appeal to the young boys. Any attempt to go different direction gets held back by insecurity. The World is Not Enough and Die Another Day seemed to start off going a new direction then they just made them into mindless action films. I'd be pissed too if I was waiting almost 20 years to get a role only to be in mediocre films.
Tater Totts
I thought the concept behind Tomorrow Never Dies was quite good, just quite poorly excecuted, like you said, seemed like they started moving in a direction then backed off like they were scared. I do also feel that the Brosnan films come across as quite formulaic.
Georgy Zhukov
They progressively get worse. I liked Tomorrow Never Dies slightly better than The World is Not Enough. Both films did indeed have great concepts but like you said they were poorly executed. I haven't heard much from Apted but Spottiswood was frustrated by MGM and the producers while filming TMD. Purvis and Wade brought back the concept of MI6 under attack from World's Not Enough and reinvented it for Skyfall with John Logan. I guess they wanted to redeem their first Bond story. Crazyman
I actually like The World Is Not Enough more than Tomorrow Never Dies. TND is a struggle for me to get through from start to finish, while TWINE has a decent plot, and aside from Denise Richards, it has a pretty good cast. If only they didn't fuck up the movie after Halle Berry showed up. Up until that part I think it could've been the best of Brosnan's films. Tater Totts
Just felt like they attempted cheap gimmicks in an attempt to make it "iconic" like the diamonds in Zao's face, there was no reason for leaving them there aside from attempting to make s memorable henchman. Georgy Zhukov
Zhao liked being iced out. What really would have been bad if Barbara and Michael allowed the director to make the code name theory official.

I wanted to watch them in order, but my parents wanted to watch FRWL on Christmas, and one of my friends wanted to watch AVTAK yesterday, and I'm itching to watch Goldeneye for some awful reason, so I guess going in order has pretty much gone out the window
Georgy Zhukov
Of all films, why A View to a Kill? I've been itching to watch GoldenEye too a couple weeks ago. Maybe it was because I haven't seen it in years and I associated with the video game for so long. I liked it just fine watching it but there was one thing that bothered me.Pierce's hair.
