Their music is not too heavy, almost pop:

Amorphis: You I Need:

I have noticed that some people who are into the heaviest darkest heavy metal have the “lightest” personalities.

Then there are these navy seal kind of types who are into teen pop. It looks a bit funny to see some Rambo looking guy singing along some Britney song.

they play a wide variety of music not just metal they have some heavier stuff as well

as well as melodic metal stuff

and some doom style stuff

as for heavy and dark music i dont know i always been drawn towards this type of music.i could never relate to pop, or rap or any other music. as for personalities i am a very laid back person people are shocked by the music i listen to i really dont care lol

I was quite disappointed with the last album. The three before however were very good, so hopefully the previous effort was just a blip. I also hope they play more than one date in London when they tour in support of this album.

i liked the last album but i wouldnt mind if they went in a different direction next album

Esa Holopainen and Tomi Koivusaari making great riffs and melodies, their older stuff is more heavy and with more brutal parts in vocals,i have faith they will create something good again.

If there is something i don't like much in the band,is that onstage the guitarists are playing like statues, they don't move much, they don't try to communicate with fans, this role is entirely to frontman Tomi Joutsen, with headbanging especially. :takethat:

Hey,listened anyone their new album called Under The Red Cloud? Most of reviews are positive and talking for their best since eclipse, the production made by Jens Bogren and seems something fresh/different from two previous albums.

Tomi cut his long hair.:wacko:

*Change the title to just Amorphis?

Amorphis are a cautionary tale about making a living in music. They essentially wrote a piss-poor contract way too early in the game to know how the biz worked. That meant a decade's worth of work on a bad deal. Less than ideal to get lousy royalties when your sophomore album sells like hot cakes, and it seriously hampered their career prospects. Props for sticking through it, tho.

I saw them live some years back, with Joutsen. Was entertained.

Tales From The Thousand Lakes is a fucking masterpiece. That album made me a fan. I lost interest after Elegy but slowly regained my faith in them after Tomi joined on vocals. It was nice to hear harsh vocals again in the band. I have only one gripe and that is that Tomi Koivusaari doesn't do any vocals anymore. I simply loved his vocals on the first 3 albums. So powerful.
