Axl's lyrics(never the same) + that awesome voice or Slash's epic guitars?

If you only had to choose one, which made "Estranged" special as it is?

Both Axl and Slash were at the top of their game for Estranged, one of my favorite GNR tunes. I honestly can't say one deserves more props than another because that is the magic of collaboration - everyone's ideas come together for a singular epic tune

Thing is, I didnt care for "Estranged" back then as well. Find it too long, but since my wife cheated on me, I started enjoying the song.

I can't really decide. It's like THE Axl song, but at the same time, those guitars Slash did in it were so magical and the song wouldn't have been half the song it is without them.

I can't decide either.

They'll never produce anything like this again with their own projects. They NEED each other!

I know this is considered Axl's masterpiece and Coma is considered Slash's baby, but Slash's guitar is my favorite part of Estranged, and Axl's vocals and lyrics are my favorite part of Coma.

But I agree that the song is perfect because of both of them, and they both deserve equal props.

In regards to Slash, I read a desperate fan's message about, what if one of us were to die and looking back I had the possibility of a reunion now, blah blah blah. And my thoughts are, "Yeah, and while you're at the show your baby accidentally kicks a candle and burns your house down, killing himself and the rest of your family."

Axl created the template, so I've gotta give it to him.

Lots of ignorance in this thread. Yes Axl wrote the lyrics. Yes Axl sang.

But, he also . . . WROTE THE WHOLE FUCKING SONG.

Yes, Slash's lead playing is great and certainly is an important part of the song, but more important than the actual writing of the song? Uhhhhhhhh, no . . .

I've got to agree with MSL (minus the unnecessary dig). Axl had more to do with the song, but Slash helped move it to the next level. It's beautiful.
