It'd be awful nice if rockfuel could drop in and let us know what's up. We know, by their own words, that they love GNR fans, so I'm sure they want to fill us in.

I've emailed Rock Fuel directly and surprise surprise, they offered no insight as to why the Dublin screening has been cancelled. They're very eager for people to join their website and propose where the show should be screened - yet they can't answer a very simple email.
Considering it's the weekend, I'm willing to give them through Monday to make some sort of statement. When did you email them?

Two days ago when the Dublin listing first got pulled. They spend a lot of time online teasing fans - so I don't see why they can't respond to my email. At the end of the day, they're a fairly obscure concert company.

They're very misleading. If you go to the official website, they give you a "register to order DVD" option. When in fact, it just signs you up to emails.

It might just be at the managers descression or something.

They've obviously struck a deal with the Cineworld franchise and both parties should observe that agreement. The fans have waited long enough to catch this production, it's an absolute joke that dates are continually being revised or cancelled entirely.

Yeah, they haven't left the best taste in my mouth either. They always seem to show up when they think they've got some great news, but when things go haywire, it's crickets.

Well... Looks like I'm not going down to Dublin then. Hopefully the digital release will be out soon.

They sold out the Odyssey and the O2 in 2010, and they sold relatively well at the O2 in 2012. Why wouldn't they give the fans one or two screenings of this release?

I was already annoyed that it wouldn't be screened in Belfast but to cancel the only screening on the island is taking the piss. Hopefully it's temporary and we'll get a new date. Was looking forward to dragging a few friends with me lol

My email got a response:

Hi, I am the producer scheduling the Guns 3D film. Unfortunately our distributor was told we could show the film in Dublin without a rating certificate by the government....then they advised that they now needed it and we were told after the date was given to Night train. Now we don't have the time to get a certificate for Dublin and too be honest not possible to get for just one cinema showing as certificate for Ireland costs 1000s of pounds.

I apologise for your not being able to see the film in Dublin but we are going to announce some ways soon that you will be able to see the concert....and it will be available soon as a blu Ray.

Fair enough I guess but it doesn't explain why NI is missing out as opposed to the rest of the UK.

Okay, great, an answer... I so hope someone gets to see this in cinema and I do hope I'll be able to buy the dvd one day. Until it actually happens, we'll have to wait and see, I guess.

I just exchanged a few more emails with the producer:

They will confirm a release date for the DVD this week - then GNR management will announce it after the cinema run.

For Irish fans, the producer will discuss our problem with the distributors on Monday. If there is any possibility of an Irish screening, he will make sure it happens.

So they are going to confirm a release date for the home release this week, but Gn'R management isn't going to announce that then already-confirmed release date AFTER the concert shows in theaters next month? What sense does that make?

Most movies that are released in the cinemas don't provide a home release date until afterwards.
