Oh, right on. I might like that sound a lot actually. I'll check it out either way.

Yea I mean some of my favourite albums have a similar production style, I just can't help but feel this band in particular would benefit from a big, layered, almost pop-like for lack of a better phrase, style of production; really get that 'big band sound', if that makes sense. But it's a good record regardless, my favourites at the moment would be the title track, I'll Be Damned (bonus track), Intro, and Coolin' Out.

edit- I think the best way I can explain it is, I wish they'd either kept or expanded on the sound of the first album, instead of stripping it down.

That album is TERRIBLE. They were much better and far more productive during the years of 1996 - 2001, everyone knows that!

On topic:

I have the latest Third Man Records Vault arriving today which includes Jack White's latest studio LP Boarding House Reach, so I'm excited for that. I'm also hitting at the record store at 9:30am to grab the first pressing of Led Zeppelin - How The West Was Won on vinyl. It's going to be a LOUD night at my place!

You're getting the same loot as me today just a few hours earlier it seems. My vault should be arriving today as well before I leave for work and then after work I am going to Amoeba to pick up HTWWW.

Can't wait to hear BHR though, I really enjoyed the new songs at the Nashville and LA shows over the past week here. I've only listened to Connected by Love/Respect Commander in terms of studio tracks because I hate getting an album and feeling like I've heard it all already.

I broke and listened to Over And Over And Over prior to getting the LP but that's it. The rest will be brand new to me. Just got home to find my Vault here. I'll be kicking things up in a few hours with spins of that and HTWWW!

Latest Stones bootleg which is the  famous "Get Your Leed Lungs Out" show from 1971. Looks mint so just need a quick cleaning before I give it a spin. The cover picture is actually from the cover for their  1966 single "Have You Seen Your Mother Baby, Standing in the Shadows" so that is Brian Jones on the far left smoking the ciggy........bootleggers have no shame...

Almost forgot, also grabbed this as well. I really like the Coverdale / Hughes DP MKIII band and this was there last show ever before Ritchie Blackmore quit and  Tommy Bolin joined the band. You would think it would be a bad show, being the last of that lineup, but actually Blackmore must have been inspired because it is really is excellent.

Been debating whether to spring to the HTWW Vault  Super Deluxe version as it is not cheap.........I envy you living near Amoeba...nothing like that here in the Boston area anymore..........the Stones Leeds bootleg  I just posted actually was bought off of eBay from Amoeba.......

The super deluxe one isn't really worth the extra cash in my opinion as it just comes with cds and a book right? I got the "standard" version which is just the 4 LPs and I absolutely love it.

Yeah Amoeba is great but it used to be so much better. Once vinyl became "cool" again like 5-7 years ago or so, their prices shot up big time and any old pressings are now "collectible" and the bins are full of tons of re-issues. Though while saying that, I understand it is me being selfish as the sheer volume of product they have is staggering compared to most small stores and I still go there all the time and spend way too much money. There are two Amoeba's up north as well in SF and Berkeley but they are nowhere near as good.

The LA area has a handful of cool little stores as well, actually.

Ordered a couple of replacement LPs I needed. Got a replacement for my Journey's Greatest Hits LP because I got a bad pressing years ago and just never exchanged it, so I finally broke down and just bought a new one. I also got the 2017 reissue of Bon Jovi - These Days. I've enjoyed my OP for years but it's finally too poppy & clicky to keep playing so I just grabbed the new one to spin from here out.

I also grabbed a recent RSD piece I missed out on: the Alice In Chains 7" set. I absolutely adore Get Born Again by them, so I'm happy to finally have it on vinyl.

Anyone going after anything tomorrow for RSD?

I just want to pick up the Kills live album and the Planet Terror OST. I'll get the Zeppelin 7" if I have a chance but won't go out early to get it.

Possibly, more exciting than the RSD titles is that Analog Spark is putting up a clear variant pre-order for Blind Melon's Nico tomorrow at a random time, limited to only 500 copies.

Only thing I want is the 10" live release from The Lone Bellow. I'm out of town this whole weekend so luckily a local store owner is holding that for me.

Finally got a copy of the Third Man Records / Third Man Pressing edition of the Stooges Eponymous debut. It has a screen printed jacket and is on yellow vinyl and includes some alternate cuts of songs. It was released on the opening day of the plant in Detroit only. I had ordered one before but it arrived damaged so I had to return it..very happy to finally have it.

Also picked up the Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab pressing of Let It Be as well as the Sucker Punch sound track that i forgot to pick up on RSD...oh and a french pressing of the Good, the bad and the ugly OST.

Picked up a couple of RSD things from flippers:

Fleetwood Mac - The Alternate Tango
Pink Floyd - The Piper at the Gates of Dawn (MONO)

Also picked up Aerosmith - Get A Grip which I'd had NO idea was reissued, so that was a pleasant surprise.

Lastly, since I'm not buying Locked & Loaded, I'm going ahead with getting this:

Picked up a couple of things last week; the latest LPs from Leon Bridges and Parker Millsap along with a new 7" from The Record Company. REALLY liked the 2 new LPs but didn't get a chance to spin the new 7" yet.

Lenny Kravitz Greatest Hits and the reissue of Pink Floyd Pulse both come out this week. I have an OP of Pulse so I'll probably hold off on that but the price of $80 on Amazon is pretty amazing and hard to pass up. I'd like to get the Kravitz Hits LP, so I'll probably order that this week.

I need to buy UYI I&II. What are everyone's opinions on the the best version? Should I be shelling out for the original pressings or are any of the remasters (cheaper) worth it?

I don't want anything that was pressed from a digital source, if possible. I'm seeing these as my three options:

UYI 1

1991 original: https://www.discogs.com/Guns-N-Roses-Use-Your-Illusion-I-/release/2206780

2012 remaster: https://www.discogs.com/Guns-N-Roses-Use-Your-Illusion-I/release/3755718

2016 remaster: https://www.discogs.com/Guns-N-Roses-Use-Your-Illusion-I/release/8437886

UYI 2

1991: https://www.discogs.com/Guns-N-Roses-Use-Your-Illusion-II/release/2048352

2012: https://www.discogs.com/Guns-N-Roses-Use-Your-Illusion-II/release/3755687

2016: https://www.discogs.com/Guns-N-Roses-Use-Your-Illusion-II/release/8422961

Here's my $0.02:

I've heard & owned both the 1991 & 2012 versions. I think the 2012 pressings do sound better than the 1991 originals overall. I would be surprised if the 2016 pressings don't use the same plates at the 2012 ones, so they should sound the same. I haven't heard them myself but again, I'd be surprised if it's not the same plates.

This probably won't matter to anyone else but I recently found out Warrant's "Greatest And Latest" was released on vinyl. It's one of those deals from the late 1990s or early 2000s where a lot of bands re-recorded their hits. I like a lot of the original Warrant material but I actually like the harder sound of the re-records a little better. I was surprised this ever got a vinyl release and it was only $20, so I grabbed it. Gonna give it a spin this evening. On the off chance that anyone is interested in these versions, here's what they sound like:
