Maybe Axl should bring him back as a writer. Before the "integrity" crowd rushes in, I'll politely remind them that they're full of shit if they think skulletboy has any. I think I remember seeing someone on here say that Tobias did the credits for the booklet from memory and that's why Finck is only on Better. One.In.A.Million
Great post WWEROSES, agree entirely. That whole Leeds 2002 performance was amazing, Think About You was immense also as was The Blues. (again, I think his high voice suited these songs the best)

Tyler Drama
Interesting how Robin has ONLY written material for Guns N' Roses, and no other band.
loko
He has written material for Gary Numan, NIN and Crying 4 Kafka, at least. Edited September 3, 2013 by loko
KipWinger
There is a big difference between contributing parts here and there, and composing a song. As a writer, Robin Finck is nothing special, and had almost anyone other than DJ replaced him, Gn'R would be better off.
J Dog
I'd love to to hear what the album sounded like at that time. That line up and whatever Axl was going for, this is as close to his original vision of CD as you'll see. Not the biggest fan of Robin but Bucket and Brain are the real deal. It all just looked and felt weird as hell.

Guest NGOG
He has written material for Gary Numan, NIN and Crying 4 Kafka, at least.I wonder why that doesn't show up on ASCAP.Gary Numan's record isn't out yet...But it's definitely an interesting point. When Robin joined in 1999 he basically had no writing experience yet most people like to recall his tenure fondly. Dj, by contrast, has an abundance of writing experience yet based on image/live playing (which Robin himself was scrutinized for) we are set against the notion of him being on a GNR album. One.In.A.Million
Robin Finck is a better writer than DJ will ever be, and please don't mention the horrible Sixx AM stuff. Robin has credits for ALOT of CD songs, and it's a testament to him. DJ's solos in Sixx AM songs sound like any other generic solos you'll hear unsigned bands playing in bars. And what more Robin more or less wrote Better, which is one of the best GN'R songs ever. When DJ writes anything even near the quality of Better, then come back and debate it... yourcrazy
I got to disagree too. I saw them in Columbus in 2002. It was great to see them because even at that point, we didn't know if anything would ever materialize. It was a good show, but pales in comparison to Auburn Hills 2006. The band was tighter and Axl sounded as good as he ever has. To me that was the best chance the band has ever had to get out of the shadows of the old band. Sadly, nothing has changed or materialized like we would have liked and the future of GNR looks kind of dim for me.
moreblack
2002 was the best they ever did KOHD: As far as the new lineups go, Fortus makes that song. His intro and overall playing on it, blows Finck's out of the water.

It was only through GNR that Robin really gained any writing chops.
Haters Gonna Hate
2002, 2006, 2010 were Axl's best vocal periods for New Guns N' Roses. In my opinion.
