Why do so many "adults" watch wrassling?

I watched a wrestling match on TV once. The most memorable aspect of it for me was the silly argument they have beforehand. I know that it's men wearing Lycra and trying to entertain, but this guy actually said that his mum had cancer to try to get sympathy. His mum may have been sick, but it's inappropriate to discuss I'm the workplace and most social situations. I bet she wasn't impressed either.

It's like theatre, why shouldn't adults enjoy it, except that it is scantily clad, sweaty neanderthals who grope at each other and do a lot of muscle posturing.

Are you suggesting that it has homoerotic undertones...

Somebody really got butthurt because bacardi doesn't like buttrock, eh?

Not a fan of those bands he loves to trash. Van Halen have some good stuff but I don't own a single one of their records.

I am not a fan but it is good theater to some...but do have to admit I used to watch GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) on Sunday mornings in the mid 80's while fighting a hangover when I was younger.....was big fan of Daisy who dressed up like Daisy Duke...........there was just something about good looking women dressed up in ridiculous costumes wrestling with each other.....

So what's the war about then?

I was really into WWE when I was a kid, in elementary school and a bit in middle school, I used to watch it with my brother and my friends. Stone Cold Steve Austin was my favorite wrestler.

I don't really see the appeal in it anymore though. Even in elementary school I was getting tired of the "storylines" and just wanted to see people go through tables

Yeah, I have no idea. One of my roomates watches it, from what I've seen the scripted trash talking isn't even funny, and there's just something I don't get about how anybody could possibly root for one of those bare chested meat heads, let alone in a choreographed "fight". Not for me I guess

Haven't watched wrestling in ages. But I have to admit, when I was younger, I dug it. Saw 2 wrestling shows in person(not TV). Saw Andre the Giant in 1984. And in 1986 saw Hulk Hogan vs Rowdy Roddy Piper. It was a lot of fun.

But I grew out of it.

Only approx 10% of American adults follow professional wrestling, and the numbers have been dropping fast. http://pwtorch.com/artman2/publish/Other_News_4/article_11803.shtml#.Um7DZFOQiUQ

I think wrestling used to be a lot more popular back in the day because it wasn't openly fake like it is now, and there's only so many times you can do the exact same storylines.

Nowadays wrestling falls into the same category as action heroes and comic book characters, it's something many get into during childhood but only a few continue to enjoy it in adulthood.

Same here.

Seeing a grown man rooting for one of these guys like it is the same as a boxing or MMA fight is just kind of weird IMO

I am not saying you HAVE to be gay to enjoy wrestling and I am certain that some of the guys watching wrestling aren't gay and just enjoy the "sportsmanship", "drama" and "athletic feats", but it is the male equivalent to mud wrestling for females, so yeah.
