My Name is Trinity
spike lee is right concerning rock music: there aren't many great french rock bands, that's true. but france has great classical music composers as ravel, berlioz, saint-saens, rameau, bizet, boulez, satie, etc.... and even a true genius as claude debussy.there are also many incredible french singers in the last 50 years: barbara, gainsbourg, piaf, trenet, brassens, aznavour, boby lapointe, bashung, leo ferré, etc....so, spike lee shouldn't have generalised. french musicians have probably a problem with rock music, but not with music in general. MB.
I love french music and I love france chansons. My mother always had it on.I love Jaques Brel and Stromae, although they are both not French, but from Belgium. They both sing (sang) in french though.Brel's 'Ne me quitte pas' is one of the most gorgieous songs ever made. And I just love Stromae's 'formidable' . Edited January 7, 2014 by MB.

I never had listened to his songs and labbeled him as "silly song to dance singer". Until I heard him talk in an interview. I thought "damn that guy is rreally smart!". I then listened to his last album and even though it's not my usual type of music I love it!I just love "batard" I can so relate to this song. He said the lyrics have nothing to do with skin color and I totally agree. I just feel the same way about taking side...totally pointless.
