bacardimayne
I think I've brought this up before, but what's the point? I used to understand it when the most recent headline would pop up at the top of the page, but now all it does is clutter up the new threads list with two of the same thing every time something happens. I doubt anyone actually goes in that section. Edited December 8, 2013 by bacardimayne
magisme
I think it's helpful for lurkers. I remember before I started posting, I would always go to the newswire first, figuring if anything significant had happened, I'd find it there. If there was something new there, that's when I'd go take a look at the threads.
Broskirose
I do agree that a bar with a link to the latest headline at the top of the index would be helpful.
gunsguy
I reckon someone can just go there and see the latest news in order easy enough. Imagine you were gone for awhile, how would you know what happened?
bacardimayne
I think it's also worth taking into account that when there's a new story, it's annoying taking the 50/50 gamble of which new thread to click on, one that leads to the "article thread" and one that leads to the discussion thread. ITG
Because we need BREAKING NEWS. If GN'R is breaking, we need this news immediately.
wfuckinga
Imagine you were gone for awhile, how would you know what happened? It's GN'R. Nothing happens. You can go away for 5 years, come back, and it's the same shit.

I kinda agree with this point, though.
saber_
The newswire is good because there are no Bon Jovi threads in there.
Damn_Smooth
It shouldn't be hard to include a link to the discussion thread in the newswire thread. Especially when someone is just copying and pasting the discussion thread 20 minutes later.
