Izzy's best solo album?

Recommended Posts

Regretfully I've not kept up with Izzy's solo career that much. I've listened sporadically over the years (mostly to Ju Ju Hounds and Like a Dog), but I'm just not that familiar with all of the albums.

I tried the forum's search engine because I assume that this topic has probably already been discussed numerous times, but I only found one discussion and it was somewhat old. For some reason I don't seem to have much luck with the search function.

So what are your recommendations on good places to start exploring the Izzy catalog...

What is the best overall Izzy album?

And more specifically...what is the best hard rock/GnR sounding Izzy album?

Thanks!

Dang, tough call. If I'd have to make a list from best to least good I'd go with this:

1. Ju Ju Hounds / 117

2.

3. On Down The Road

4. River

5. Ride On

6. Smoke

7. Fire (The Acoustic Album)

8. Miami / Wave Of Heat / Concrete

9.

10.

11. Like A Dog

None of them are bad. I'm just not that high on Like A Dog. I was however one of the lucky people to have an official cd pressing of it, ordered on Izzy's website. ^_^

Izzy is like Post-Back In Black AC/DC. It's never groundbreakingly different or daring. But that's ok because you can't have too much of a good thing.

"Smoke" is my favorite one.

Smoke is great. I love the song Snow, my favorite off the album

The instrumental, Smoke, is also pretty cool

He did a GREAT reggae tune, Run In, on his River album

and the title track from River is also excellent

His newest songs are great as well, Upside and Baby Rann. Baby Rann, the iTunes version, has an extended reggae outtro jam

Sweet Caress is overrated imo, Chop Away is better. Check out Raven and Waiting For My Ride from Wave of Heat, and Box, Fire and Airbus from Fire, The Acoustic Album as well

Izzy's flirts with reggae are great! ^_^ I have the Japanese version of Ju Ju Hounds which has How Much on it. A great reggae tune as well. :)

How Much is great, I have it on the Japanese JJH and the Shuffle It All single.

Izzy's cover of Jivin' Sister Phanny and Highway 49 are incredible as well, those are on the Live EP
