Slashathon: Artist-focused Hackathon

Recommended Posts

Just reading that. Sounds really interesting. A cool opportunity for musically talented individuals (not me!)

It's more about coding and designing apps to helps artists. The timetable mentions API presentations and Bandsintown is one of the sponsors, so my guess is they give you a bunch of APIs for sites like Bandsintown and you have to mash them up into an app that helps artists engage fans.

Much like the site I am currently working on, https:// www.resnate.com (shameless plug ;) ).

The prize money is pretty low, though. $1000? I mean, I'd like an extra $1000, but I'm guessing to get the prize money and let Slash use your app, you'll have to sign away all rights to it. So essentially they'd be buying a new app for peanuts. I could be mistaken, though.

judges have been announced:

Slash will be joined by Bram Cohen (chief scientist and founder of BitTorrent) and Robert Scoble (first employee at Microsoft, creator of Hackathons, Rackspace) onsite in Austin to judge the Slashathon. Also, a major entrepreneur in the world of tech will make a surprise guest appearance. The Grand Prize includes a Gibson guitar autographed by Slash, $1,000 dollars and the opportunity to have Slash use the winning hack with the release of his new album, coming out in late 2014.
