That One Song...

Recommended Posts

Anybody else have that one song (or two songs) that you just CAN'T get? You love it, you want to perform it so badly but you just can't quite get to the place that you feel does it justice? Maybe it's just because I'm a perfectionist. There are two songs that I flat out have refused to do, not because I don't love them, they are two of my favorites. Because I just feel like I can't get them to the level they need to be. My two are Crazy On You (Heart) and Cry Baby (Janis Joplin). Just curious if anyone else has that "Holy Grail", be it a guitar solo, vocal part, whatever.

I never get that, haven't had that yet.

My CURRENT project in terms of getting a song right for guitar/me sees me going up, up, high up to the 22nd fret on the high E and B strings tuned down half a step to Eb making it Eb & A#;

which is good because it allows the strings not to snap.

It's an oldie that had a come back in the UK in the 1990s when it was used on a television show and; that's where I know it from. I suspect a mandolin or violin, either way I'm liking what I get when I'm transferring this to guitar (a lot of bends on those high frets as a result).
