Does Axl even want to release any more music? Or is that just a collective delusion from us diehards?

Recommended Posts

Nobody knows but him and his close crew. From the looks of it no, he probably doesn't give a shit, but he'll never come out and say it. The only thing he mentioned was when someone asked him in the chats (I think it was the chats) and he said "don't know and don't care" or something to that effect. Not a good sign. But hey, Slash is working on a new record.

No clear answer here, but Axl is the kind of person who can hit the highest of highs one second and lowest of lows the next for no reason.

He might wake up one day and want to write a song, but bc he has an obsessive attitude he will write 100 songs in one day. Then he will go on a long run of working on music for weeks and all of a sudden he will wake up one day and quit working on anything. He'll want to learn to paint or something.

Point is he really has to be extremely motivated to work on releasing music. I don't think that motivation is there right now and it's not something he will force himself to do. It's just in his nature.

I think it's pretty obvious that GNR is just a washed up, Vegas lounge act these days. The brand is a joke, and clearly only exists to play the old AFD hits at bowling alleys and casinos so that Axl can keep the lights on at his house on the hill.

He doesn't seem to want to release any new music, but he really loves touring.

I really believe he enjoys it after listening to the 2011 Eddie Trunk interview again. After the media crew telling us about the "three new songs" thing, I'd like to wait and see until after this year before I can really give a definitive answer. But that is me being hopeful.

If I'm being realistic, Chinese Democracy was the last GN'R album.

Incredible, isn't it?

GNR was the absolute hottest ticket on the PLANET.

Then Axl took over completely. End result? One miserable, mediocre album, and years of silence, endless nostalgia cash-in touring with hired cover players.

You gotta wonder if Acl thinks it was worth it. Well, at least he removed the cancer that is Slash. Look how well things turned out for Axl.

Does Axl even want to release any more music? Or is that just a collective delusion from us diehards?

Or does he just want to tour? Can he at least let us know either way? We need to know. He needs to have a heart to heart with the fans.

Axl is always ready to release new music, and be productive. It is the fault of the fans, the management, the record company, the band members, the ex bandmates, the lawyers, the ex wives, the groupies, the girlfriends, the world that is stopping him and his team to be back in the game.

If you are a diehard fan of GNR and expect Axl of 2000s/2010s to be the same monster he was way back then you need to wake up and smell the coffee.

We dont even know if he wants to tour. Who knows if you can still count on him and his team to be available for the vegas shows.

Can he let us know either way? Well, Jarmo and Del and DJ and Bumblefoot are pretty honest and provide straight up information now and then. wink wink.

I think he wants

But then again: the record label and his own lazyness fucked up the situation

If we'll hear 2-3 new songs then i believe we will got a new album

If not, then i think it's over

I don't think laziness is the appropriate culprit here in regard to this particular matter. I'd say it t was, and is his quest for infinite optimization (perfectionism), along with overthinking, that is at play here.

Although I myself was too lazy to paste in the various quotes from him about releasing music, I would say it's clear that his perception of sharing music differs from the fans.'

If he's just interested in touring from here on out, then I am going to invest more energy into getting my hopes up for the RapidFire demos. Because that's all there is left if everything else is locked up in a vault indefinitely.

What I got from his quotes going back to Illusion era is... Axl has the songs, he doesn't have to give them to us. He writes the songs for himself, and maybe doesn't see point past that. But once he's happy he turns to getting them out.

It could be a process and fun to do to explore, to try to do this or that, but then the business side comes. How does he make it interesting for himself to do and still make it viable. He doesn't seem interested in turning the handle like Bon jovi, ACDC or even the Stones do. To me it seems like he's building or built a catalog like Zepp.

CD is at least something different to UYI and AFD, it represents for this era.

Maybe if they do a self-titled next and try to do stuff like from different eras. Like this has an AFD feel, this is like UYI, this is more a CD era. It seems artificial and not something Axl has done really.

It's more likely they pool the material and talent they've had and make another big GNR record.

If they don't play any new (as-in-never-heard-before-new) songs on this tour, I think it's pretty safe to say that no, he doesn't care about new music. Then again, a lot of older bands don't care. But if that's the case then you're not really an artist. Just a performer.

I still don't get why Axl had to have the Guns name to himself.

So by all the not too subtle winking you are insinuating that you are an insider, or have information?

Interesting

I seem to recall an UYI-era interview in which Axl said that UYI had to be this huge summa because they had this huge backlog of material he wanted to get out of his system before he could move on; songs written even before GnR was formed, recorded AFD, etc.

It seems to me Axl wanted a clean slate but found himself with very little to go on after that.
