Gracii Guns
Hey, I need help please. I'm working on something for a freelance client who works on multicultural-based stuff. This document is ready to be sent to the printers, but they want one Arabic phrase adding. They want the phrase 'thank you' in Arabic and sent me this in an email:...which I copied and pasted into my document. I typset it in the font Adobe Arabic, which flips the word backwards. Please can you tell me which is correct? (And possibly some explanation as to why it has flipped. I'm aware that many non-Latin languages are written left to right). Massive thanks, G

Georgy Zhukov
Ask Amir. I think he may know Arabic based on the fact he's a camel jockey.

Thin White Duke
I'm aware that many non-Latin languages are written left to right). I have no idea about Arabic but I couldn't help myself when I saw this. Why did you especially think in Latin languages when this is an English language forum? Why did you especially think in Latin languages when this is an English language forum? Probably because English uses the Roman script. Georgy Zhukov
Arabic is so beautiful. Though some dialects are not as nice on the ears
Johnny Drama
Which dialects aren't for you? Aren't Arabic dialects usually influenced heavily by the language the people spoke pre-Arabisation?
Georgy Zhukov
I just assume they are different. Some Arabic sounds ugly, others beautiful. Maybe it is the person speaking it.

Guest Len B'stard
First ones the right one, the second is the seperate letters that comprise the word, see in arabic the word aint formed until you join the letters up.I just assume they are different. Some Arabic sounds ugly, others beautiful. Maybe it is the person speaking it.Cuz arabic has sounds english dont and some of those letters sound like your hacking up a fuckin' wad of snot. Like for example they have a letter that makes a ghhrr sound.
DieselDaisy
'ghhrr' being the arabic for, George Bush Jr.
aArief178
You don't know an alphabet in arabic to read using the vocal alphabet 'a' 'i' or 'u' until you know the meaning. But, if the writing uses 'harakat' (some kind of vocal alphabet helper) you can read it without knowing the meaning.
