It can be arranged.

That's so cool ^_^

There's a big vintage burlesque club night that happens here every so often that I love going to, and I've been involved with a 1920's cabaret club night too, it's so fun getting dressed up :)

I want to see a picture afterwards, Alfie ;)

I've thought about posting pic's before but haven't been brave enough. I might do this time.

Please do! Maybe one of you dancing with a dashing gentleman in uniform

I might. Although I was a little put off by one guy last year who kept asking me to dance. He was a lovely, exuberant chap but a bit full on. I kept politely declining but he wouldn't give up so I caved in the end (cheap) jeered on by my friends. He was smaller than me with a shiny head, and I'm not tall...bloody hell he swung me around the floor with sweaty palms for about 15 minutes. I couldn't get away and my mates were paralytic with laughter. Hmmm..they didn't try and rescue me either. Bastards.

All the others have been lovely though.

You weren't the shiny, small bald man were you NGOG? Lol

Yeah I love getting dressed up. I've been to a ton of burlesque shows, it's how I got into retro stuff. I tend to mostly avoid it now though as the venue I liked closed down and the good shows are expensive. It's one of those things that a few years ago was very niche and high quality but as it's become popular and more mainstream a lot of it has become less Moulin Rouge and more YouPorn iyswim. I've seen some really amazing sets and some really horrendous ones too!

On the whole I prefer the reenactment stuff now although ot does crossover from time to time.

I did see one girl a couple of years back who did a Slash burlesque act to WTTJ. It was quite good actually.

Ha, that sounds awesome!

Yeah I agree that the acts can be very variable in quality and tastefulness. My boyfriend came along to his first burlesque night a couple of years ago and they had this 'Siren' act where the girl was pretty much masturbating on a fake rock  My dance group are quite popular on the cabaret scene because we don't take our clothes off  In the words of one of the comperes "I can see boobs any day I want, what you guys do takes talent!" "P

Last time I went to a burlesque show the performance was halted when a bunch of ........ ahem ..........lads ....... kept chanting "we wanna see a fat bird in a bra" to the tune of "She's coming round the mountain". Edited by Dazey

Ha ha. I might have seen that one..a lot seem to go in for that sort of thing. The worst one I saw was a PVC clad nun, it was her very first show and she'd brought her boyfriend who sat in the front row. That's not an issue in itself except the act deviated in some kind of foreplay/private show for him leaving everyone else feeling very uncomfortable and voyeuristic.

This wasn't the last timd something like that occured, I've come to the conclusion that some people are using it to spice up their sex life rather than for artistuc purposes. I go a lot less now and pay a lot more for big names and decent venues. There is a big night in Liverpool at a beautiful old theatre that is very good. They do a sit down meal and table service and the show is a mix of burlesque and cabaret.

I've been to a few like that. If there are a load of lads sat in groups near the front it never goes well!

Main hobbies are watching Netflix and writing stories. I used to play video games a lot, but I only do that occasionally now, since a lot of stuff coming out doesn't really interest me enough. Listening to music is another, and on the rare occasion I think of something that isn't corny or already done to death, I write lyrics, but that is very rare for me. I read, but not as often as I'd like to, but it's hard for me to find a book that I'll stick with to the end for some reason. I get really into books when I first start reading them, but somewhere down the line I lose interest in the story, probably because nine times out of ten I already know what's going to happen. Sometimes I run, but again, not as much as I'd like to or used to. Then there's this forum, but I'm not sure if you can count that as a permanent hobby, especially since I'm already starting to lose interest in posting.

Oh, and eating. Eating's fun too.

My main hobbies are dance (contemporary/jazz/ballet), art, drama, musical theatre and reading.

I've been lucky enough to keep up my dancing and reading throughout uni, but I rarely have time to paint/draw these days and haven't really been involved with any drama or theatre since school :( I hope wherever I end up working I can get involved with an adults' theatre group.

I recently picked up drawing which I really enjoy though I'm not very good at it.

Can you say animals is a hobby? I love them, I love reading about them, watching documentaries about them and also spending time with them of course. Whales are my favorites (orcas especially) and I'm going whale watching this summer which I'm really looking forward to.

Guns N' Roses is another hobby along with my other favorite bands and artists.

I used to write a lot, even wrote a novel at one point, but in the last years I haven't been inspired to write at all :(

I make stuff, pull it apart and then put it back together again. I do it for work and I do it in my spare time too.

And I collect stuff. Emilio Pucci scarves, Hermes scarves, vintage Vogue magazines and fabric. Lots of fabric. And shoes. Lots of shoes.

I also like polishing my shoes, ironing my clothes and drinking red wine. :)
