DieselDaisy
Mayfield does everything. Sings beautiful falsetto. Plays great lead guitar. Writes incredible songs, stunning sociopolitical songs, love songs (you name it) etc. Arranges. Produces. Genius. He is like Prince only he's good haha Also stylistically, I hear a tremendous amount of soul and funk but also blues, jazz, rock n' roll, pop and a smidgen of classical. Probably there is more in there if you care to look. Edited September 11, 2016 by DieselDaisy

DieselDaisy
Curtis Mayfield is incredible. I think he might jump into my 'top ten' list. Curtis, Roots and Super fly - everyone is a masterpiece.

Curtis, Roots and Super fly - everyone is a masterpiece. Curtis should be on everyones top ten list, he is beyond genius, influential guitarist, songwriter, influential on rock music, funk, hip hop, the sheer range of his influence is astounding. For the last 50 odd years he has been the very definition of cool. His social conscience stuff is insightful, non-patronising but more than all of that abstract stuff the actual music itself is just brilliant, it is distinctly of his time but at the same time it sounds as cool as it did the day it came out, there are very few other artists you can say that about, he is so under appreciated it is positively criminal. James Bond
Duran Duran - All You Need Is Now (2010) I like it better than their latest effort. Great album that recalls the glory days of Rio and Seven but without trying too hard to be something it's not.
