Messi is the Axl Rose of Argentina's Team

No, did you see how miserable messi looked getting his award? Axl would have looked less bloated than normal and been cracking jokes with the fifa president, country leaders & Nic cage.

Congrats to Germany, the best team in the WC.

I would give Messi the best player award cos he was playing along with the tactical system. Who was better than Messi in the whole tournament? Muller, but he was a shadow in the last 3 games.

Dirk Kuyt, hands down.

He's an attacker, who played as a LB, RB, midfielder and winger this tournament.

THAT'S playing along with the tactical system.

And he's 33 years old.

Great player, but:

He didn't play the final, and he certainly didn't drag his team to the final. Same goes to J. Rodriguez, who was the best, too bad he didn't play more games.

Goes to show, Messi needs Barcelona to make a difference.

He needs a team, like Maradona in 86. In the last 2 games he didn't receive the ball from his teammates, they were all focusing on marking and defensive football. Still, Argentina should have won in the first half, but missed 3 chances.

I still really want Messi to win a world cup some day. Even if it's just to finally shut Maradona up.

That ship might've sailed already. He's gonna be in the tail end of his career by the time Russia 2018 rolls around. He had his chance, unless Argentina produce a new crop of insanely together talented generation between now and then... Basically in 2018, these guys from today aren't donna do anything.

He didn't look miserable. He looked pissed off like fuck. Much like Axl when he rejected the HOF thing.

True, true.

Just read that, according to FIFA's own ratings, Toni Kroos was the best player during this WC, Arjen Robben was 2nd, Stefan de Vrij 3rd.

Fifa Fair play and best GK in the WC.

He should consider himself lucky he kept all his teeth. Neuer went for the full Shumacher treatment there. But he got the ball.

Kramer got destroyed earlier by Argentinian defender too. Apparently he was so badly concussed he doesn't remember the final.

The difference there is, Zidane and Forlan were aging statesmen of the game by 2006 and Zizou had already assured his own legend with his heroics in 1998 and 2000. Messi is at his peak and should have taken the competition by the scruff of the neck. He probably will never win a World Cup now. In his defence, he had too much on small shoulders. Argentina suffer from a perpetual curse which can be best called, ''the next Maradona syndrome''. We have seen other footballers shouldered with this burden before (Riquelme, Veron).

PS

Did anyone see Rihanna flashing and later frolicking with the German team - and the actual World Cup trophy? What a girl! Also, did anyone see Beckham’s kids in Argie Bargy shirts. What! Have they not seen the highlights ?1998? Diego Simeone?

For me, it is more an issue of other players deserving it more. Messi played, 'alright', I suppose; he was actually rather good in the group stages - less so, the knockouts. His team would have certainly been dumped out early without him as they played some truly horrendous stinky defensive football. But you have at least three players more worthy,

Robben

James Rodriguez

Muller

Sanchez

And a few more Germans. Schweinsteiger perhaps (for the final). Lahm once he was switched to a fullback position.

Pretty much this
