Seems like Mass Effect meets Borderlands meets Call of Duty meets Halo. With shades of Elder Scroll like deepness in weapons and upgrades. Character customization is awesome as well. I had a blast exploring the wasteland with my friend, finding loot in crazy places. I just hope the game is as big as it's supposed to be.I thought it was a very cool game, definitely up there with COD and Halo. Still, with the PvP, I felt something was missing. There wasn't much going on in it, just jetpacking around killing people. When you die, it's often completely out of your control, like you're either killed by an Ultimate (which are completely stupid, btw), or because you are weak from your last gun fight. It's hard to fuck up in a gunfight in the game, I win most of them but unless my opponent was really inexperienced, I left the battle with too little health and too little ammo to get another kill without hiding for 8 seconds. Still, it's fun, but I wonder how long it'd stay fun for. I think it has a lot of potential if Bungie is as creative and focused on variety as they were with Halo. The Crucible (PvP area, cowaduty style) needs work, it had a bad netcode and that was my only problem during the beta.The world was rich and immersive, very addictive. This looks like my GOTY, tbh. Enjoy it while you can!If Destiny hits a home run and wins Game of the Year by most critics I'll probably give it a go. I generally attempt to play the game that most consider the best of that year. I know exactly what you mean I'm getting Destiny and I know I should be hype but I just can't force it. I just have too many other things to think about. Working a night shift the day before release, hoping they're doing a midnight release at my local store (safe bet) and stay open through the night as they did that for GTAs release. Love it or hate it kind of thing. This game clearly was inspired by classic titles, the point, wave, dance etc was a deliberate Dark Souls mechanic. One influence I've seen no one draw attention to is just how much it borrows from classic doom. Halo was never that far detached but destiny hits the nail on the head. The varied but distinctive alien races and divisions, (it's enemy design is one of my absolute favourite things) their projectile and sometimes homing weapons, the fast movement speed. The hellish environments. It's all very doomy.My first strike mission - the moon one. That left me in awe. Fucking awesome, lengthy, challenging experience. Met the Vex for the first time last night. About shat myself. Play on hard or go home. The challenge is real. More thoughts soon,on phone atm. Did not live up to the massive hype.People aren't giving it enough of a chance though, I'll say that. I believe Bungie when they say the game unfolds over time. It's already happening.
