Magician Tries to Sell Weed to a Uniformed Cop, Absolute Hilarity Ensues
in Entertainment, News, Opinion, Videos / by Sean Brown / on August 14, 2014 at 12:49 pm /

Illusionist Calen Morelli approached an officer of the law in an attempt to sell him a bag of marijuana but had a trick up his sleeve instead, and when the officer approached him absolute hilarity ensued.

Morelli is an up and coming illusionist who’s been deemed the “most creative magician” of our time. He’s a full-time performer and has served as a consultant for some of the magic world’s greatest stars such as David Blaine and David Copperfield.

The young illusionist made a name for himself with the overnight success of his “Dresscode” illusion, where he appears to change shirts nearly instantly without any special props. Since then he’s made several DVDs instructing others on how to perform various magic tricks, and has a YouTube channel documenting his performances.

In this video, he approaches the officer, showing him a bag of marijuana and asking him if he’d like to purchase it for $40. Just as he’s supposed to do, the officer approached Morelli and grabs his arm to get the bag, which Morelli had balled up, out of his hands.

The officer demands that Morelli open his hands and let the bag go, but much to his surprise when the illusionist opens his hands there’s nothing inside. Frustrated, the officer forces Morelli against the wall and searches him but still doesn’t find anything, causing him to ask the magician repeatedly where the bag went.

Morelli then tells the officer that he was just imagining things and he had only asked him what time it was, which upsets the officer even more. Eventually, the frustrated officer tells Morelli to walk away or he’s going to take him to jail.

While it’s never a good idea to antagonize law enforcement officers, nobody was hurt or arrested and all ended well. It’s a possibility that the officer was in on the joke, since he allowed him to walk without initiating a more thorough search after he was clearly offered an illegal substance. One can only wonder what the officer was thinking for the rest of the day as he remembered his interaction with Morelli.
