do you think any former appetite members will be on a new gnr release in the future? I think seeing a feature on next album might be asking to much but i think before Axl is done with music we will see a colab with izzy and duff and maybe slash even.

The first step ig is if Axl puts the izzy song on an album. If I'm not mistaken down by the ocean is the izzy song. Could someone give me some info on this song? I'm mostly wondering if it has iZzy on guitar or is it just written in part by Mr stradlin

I think it's just written by Izzy.

Maybe Duff, no fuckin' way Axl will work with Slash imo, and maybe Izzy, but I don't think so. Best chance for a classic line up member to guest on a song or two is Duff, but we'll see.

I can see an Izzy song on a release, I don't know about him being on the album but at least in terms of songwriting credits. Now that Axl is cool with Duff hearing a song with either Duff or Izzy playing on it would be badass but I think that is very unlikely

'Box' could be 'Down by the Ocean' under another guise; it seems implausible if Axl grabbed the demo, and no doubt surrounded it in copyright protection, but we do not know that for certain. Izzy did reuse some of the stuff he did with Velvet Revolver (pre-Weiland) for his solo records.

No, this was before Axl dissolved the partnership (and created the dictatorship in its place), and Stradlin was essentially a third party anyhow since he terminated his participation in Guns N' Roses in late-1991. The Stradlin/McKagan demos were recorded, April 1995. Axl dissolved the partnership, December 1995. The fact that Axl had to ask for a copy of the songs from Izzy (in 2001), and the fact that one specific song is specified, is telling (''then, a couple of months ago I have a message on my answering machine: 'Yo! It's Axl, I need a copy of the songs that you did'). Presumably, if he did not possess a copy, he also did not possess the copyright. Of course this is all speculation but the demos Slash, Gilby and Sorum recorded in a similar time frame did not obviously fall under Axl's jurisdiction as Slash later turned them into - against Axl's wishes - Slash's Snakepit! As I said, this was all before Axl's takeover.

It was what Slash tried earlier with Gilby and Matt - the demos which both Axl and Duff were unconvinced upon. It is the whole idea of, having something to present to Axl to work upon, to get him out of his lethargic ways. And it failed - as did Slash's attempt.

Again, that is my reading of the events in 1995.

I think it would be a coup for Axl to get Izzy sting on Down by the Ocean. If he got Duff to lay down some bass it would really be something. I think Slash brings too much sound wise and it would be too constricting. I don't think he'd want to donate a solo.

Axl seems to come round to both their material. I reckon he was just at home working on TIL. He wasn't there for much of UYI either. Seems he gathers material music to sing on. So writing lyrics maybe what he's doing. I do think Axl wasn't showing enough interest in them. They were in the dark.

I think the only ones who could appear on a future release are Izzy and Duff. I don't know if it's correct for me to think this, but I always figured the reason Axl hasn't released Down by the Ocean is because he won't do it without Izzy. I dunno, might not be right of me to assume, but he seems to respect and care about the guy, so he'd want his involvement in a song he wrote.

I don't think Down by the Ocean is the same as "Box" though, at least not musically. As was said earlier, Timo Kaltio cowrote it. I always figured the lyrics were similar to "Down by the Ocean," and the music was written by Kaltio. So if we hear it on a future GN'R release (if we get one), it won't sound the same aside from a few verses being identical or close to it.
