Was 1989 the best year for glam rock/hair metal? Let's take a look at some of the releases in '89:

Skid Row: Skid Row

Mötley Crüe: Dr. Feelgood

Warrant: Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich

Dangerous Toys: Dangerous Toys (if you haven't heard them they aren't technically glam rock, they're sleaze rock and hair rock with mixes of testosterone rock)

Tora Tora: Surprise Attack

Whitesnake: Big Game

Enuff Z'Nuff: Enuff Z'Nuff

L.A. Guns: Cocked and Loaded

Great White: Twice Shy

Kingdom Come In Your Face

Faster Pussycat Wake Me When Its Over

to name a few

Now, I know what you're thinking. "Oh WFA, this music is shit, glam rock isn't amazing, hurrdurr nine inch nails is revolutionary." Well, when you think about some of the songs that came out of those albums, you'll see that this was a very important time for, not just glam rock, but rock in general. Some of the biggest 80's songs. nee, biggest rock songs, were in 1989.

Songs such as:

Funny how the guys who get pissed off the most when you criticize or don't like the same music they do are the ones who are always bashing other people's music.

Good list Illusions.

You left off a few: LA Guns, Michael Monroe, Junkyard, Pretty Boy Floyd and Kingdom Come all had albums that year as well.

In terms of overall rock it was pretty amazing. All these bands had releases in 89 as well:

Rolling Stones, Rush, Queen, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Tom Petty, The Stone Roses, Billy Squire, Lenny Kravitz, The Cult, The Cure, Bad Religion, Faith No More, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Nine Inch Nails, Lou Reed, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Neil Young, Whitesnake, Kiss, Bang Tango, Wasp, Ace Frehley.

Screamadelica - Primal Scream

Bandwagonesque - Teenage Fanclub

Boo Radleys

My Bloody Valentine

Honeys Dead - Jesus and Mary Chain

Ritual de lo Habitual 1990.

Leisure - Blur 91

Suede 92

The weird thing is I clearly remember the NME Christmas issue with 100 best albums.

89-91 was strong. It's where hair metal meets alternative.

Culture ended in the year 2000.
