I think it's more like an idea where, i dunno, it might've been a good idea the first or second time someone thought of it but when you got 50,000 cunts all being ironic for each others pleasure it makes you wonder whether it's not done to hide something.

But if you (not you personally!) want someone to blame for this shit blame the Seattle lot, they started all that, wearing all big handlebar mustaches and dressing and acting like hicks, y'know, to satirise or whatever. Perhaps it's the same with all the ironic t shirt-wearing brigade, perhaps they protest too much, perhaps they were actually kids raised on that sort of pop music from a very early age and this is the only way they can seperate themselves from it (in a roundabout way ) and appear cool to whoever it is they feel like being cool to.

But more power to em, yeah, i don't get it but i'm 31, I don't think I'm supposed to get it. but the new hipsters started in Williamsburg, NY? It's a different definition. They aren't one thing or another. They just mix and match counter culture endlessly looking for something new to be hip, just for the sake of it. It's a mentality more than one particular style. But most people just see a guy in skinny jeans and a kagool and think hipster. but it should be more diverse than that. Why that term spread and became synonymous with a certain look I'm not sure. Maybe they do it to be cool is the wrong part, they do it to fight boredom. But the snobbery or alleged snobbery is bizarre. Like Britney and Cats isn't cool any more it's Lil Kim and Rats this week. I think I met one once at a wedding he complained endless about the wedding band playing Frank and Tony numbers and was banging on how they should play Blue Monday by New Order. Who gives a shit? If two people want to throw their lives away let them play what they want at the disco.
