if you could remove one song from Use Your Illusions, What one and why?

Recommended Posts

Title sums it up really.

Take My world out to start with as a fair few people would remove that one, so of the remaining 29, what would you remove and why?

Personally i would remove You Aint The First. It's just completely lacking in any real power, and just doesn't seem to fit in with the albums. It seems like more of a Lies song. If you know what i mean.

Yeah, My World is the glaringly obvious one...but my choice would be either Get In The Ring or Shotgun Blues.

Live And Let Die and Knockin' On Heaven's Door are the two shittiest songs on each album.

completely disaggree there.

Live and let die, is a supurb cover with lots of raw power that you dont normally get with covers. KOHD is a staple Guns N' Roses song and has been in the setlist from 1986, on the album it can sound dreary and lackluster, but it fits well with the feel of 2. The more soft and mellow side.

I'd get rid of Bad Apples. It's just completely B-Side maybe even C-Side. My World I always just kinda saw as a bonus through away song. It actually sounded pretty cool blaring over the speakers at their end of their shows as fans were walking out. At least it's interesting. Bad Apples sounds like some shit they thought up while taking a shit, so that's the one I'd get rid of.

Bad Apples sounds like a jam. I quite like it actually. Definitely 'b-sidey' however.

Where the hell did garden of eden come from anyway? It is good to rock out with but stupid at the same time. I'd choose that as the disturbing hilarity of the music video can barely save it. Do i think the void would change time? No, it's the closest to being filler on an otherwise great release of albums on the same day.

The second version of Don't Cry would be out. It's just unnecessary. I also quite liked Knockin' on Heaven's Door the first time I heard it, but the nearly ten minutes or more performances of it have left a sour taste in my mouth concerning the song, so I'd toss it out as well.

Believe or not I'd keep My World. It's not really a song I listen to very often, or even enjoy all that much, but it's funny, so I'd keep it around.

I'd leave My World.. I never minded it or took it too seriously..

I would rip Knockin On Heavens Door the fuck off of there though..

I love the song and they had some amazing live versions but that Studio version is a mess.. It is too polished, Axl has too many layered vocals which sound dumb, the choir is lame and those overdubs in the middle are fucking terrible.

Bad Apples and Live and let die probably the only songs on the UYI's that i never manage to like

I'm genuinely surprised by a lot of the answers, I assumed it would all be get in the ring, shotgun blues and back off bitch :shrugs:

Back Off Bitch is one of the best songs on the first UYI, imo

a good rocker. maybe needed some other lyrics, but guitar wise, is a fucking ace song

also shotgun blues sounds like a filler, but have some cool solo and Axl layed down soem good vocals there. Get In The Ring sounds like a little bit unfinished, the last Slash solo is one of the best on the record
