highvoltage
So I'm heading to Denver next week - finally seeing my girl after 9 months of long-distance bullshit! Going to spend 3 weeks there, pretty fucking excited. Any residents or frequent visitors that have any tips on where to head, either in Denver or within a few hour's drive? Not averse to doing an overnight stay somewhere if it's worth it.She has a few activities lined up, but she's asked me if I want to do anything in particular... and I have no idea. inb4 YOU SHOULD TOTALLY GET HIGH WHILE YOU'RE THERE! Nulla Lex Ink.
Huh, guess that answers the question I asked in the letter I just sent, haha. Also, I call first South Park joke. Don't buy any parkas. That leads to dying. Often.
Popular Post Amir
Nine months of long distance...On topic, I have not been to Colorado, but in my Hamburger America book it recommends a little place called Bud's Bar in Sedalia, if you happen to go there.

Mansin Humanity
Worked there last summer, around two hours northwest of Denver. Need to go back.Definitely drive up to Rocky Mountain National Park, it's one of my favorite places in the whole world. Estes Park, Boulder, and Lyons (the towns you'd drive through to get there from Denver) are all cool spots too. If you have time, drive back the other way, as Berthoud Pass is just as awesome of a drive over the mountains and Winter Park (the last town before Berthoud) has some great stuff - if you're in WP, check out The Library, which was my favorite spot for beers in the area.If there are still shows happening at Red Rocks, go to one. Far and away my favorite venue of all time. If there aren't any shows, go there and hike around - it's a public park when there aren't shows going on and you can walk around the stands and everything (plus there are separate hiking trails).Go to Twist & Shout Records in Denver. All sorts of cool shit, I spent at least an hour just looking around one day. If you like burritos (and I don't know you anymore if you don't), there's the original Chipotle and Illegal Pete's is also great.Hope this is helpful if you're not just banging the whole time.edit: are you into whiskey/bourbon? That drive sounds really cool, I figure we have at least one good road trip in us. She's a bit of an outdoorsy type and loves to hike, so she'll have plenty of that sort of stuff to check out.I would LOVE to see something at Red Rocks - the concert schedule was one of the first things I checked! There's no shows on though... so I'm going to settle for Michael Menert at the Filmore Auditorium, should still be pretty sweet. I think we'll definitely head out to the area and check it out though, she will want to show me since it's her favourite venue in the world too. Record store... check. That sounds like my kind of activity. I fucking love Chipotle and burritos in general (I'm not a monster, don't worry). I'll even post a photo of me eating one when the time comes, right here in this thread. Hold your breath people.

magisme
If you can catch a NFL game go see the BroncosThat would be fucking amazing actually.Just checked the roster... no home games for the Broncos during my trip! I get in on the 23rd of October and fly out November 8.You might want to check the schedule instead of the roster.....Just spend as much time outdoors as possible. It's gorgeous out there. Lots of people would say try to get to Boulder, which I guess you should for some outdoorsy stuff, but the town itself isn't all that.

It's absolutely beautiful even if you don't get out of the car once, but you should do that. Also, alcohol:Great Divide Brewing (Denver Pale Ale is my favorite)Left Hand Brewing (Milk Stout, preferably Nitro)Breckenridge Distillery BourbonDrink these. If you end up in the town of Breckenridge itself, go to the distillery where they have tastings most days I believe. Facekicker
Drive up the Rockies to the Continental Divide at Loveland Pass. Visit Buffalo Bills grave at night and smoke a bowl. Ditto for Red Rocks. Chase a squirrel.
