downzy
Apparently the gunman has been put down, but three were taken to hospital as a result of being shot.Kind of insane that the gunman was allowed to run into the Canadian Parliament after being chased from a war monument. There are reports that there might be more than one shooter.http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/gunman-killed-in-ottawa-3-shootings-confirmed-1.2065443Video from inside the Parliament building:http://www.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=472781
Coma16
Apparently there were 3 shootings (2 suspects still out there) and it's being considered an act of terror

When will the U.S. realize that they need stricter gun laws? .......oh, wait....And this happens how often in Canada? It wasn't a shot at Canada. It was a shot at people that say that whenever something happens in the U.S. It was a tongue-in-cheek remark.

Ace Nova
Not really....can't remember the last time a gunman went into Congress, in Washington DC and shot a bunch of people. But this isn't the time or place to discuss that, so I'll go back and edit my comment, it was in poor taste, given the situation. Touche. downzy
So, Mr. Harper, about that gun registry... You mean that gun registry that was supposed to be built by CGI, the same company responsible for the Obamacare website? No, the one that was already built and operated for 10+ years prior to the current PM taking over.
rock4eva
Already the conspiracy theories abound so quickly after the fact.http://nodisinfo.com/shooting-canadian-parliament-islamophobic-zionist-hoax/Home9/11Angelic / DivineBoston BombingFukushimaNodisinfo RadioOther HoaxesSandy Hook Shooting at Canadian Parliament is an Islamophobic Arch-Zionist HoaxOther Hoaxes Zionist Terror — 22 October 2014 Shooting at Canadian Parliament is an Islamophobic Arch-Zionist HoaxMuch info thanks to our posters.Regarding the purported shooting death of a Canadian soldier at a Ottawa military memorial nothing could be more inane than this. It was said that the Zionist-controlled Canadian government must leave the hoaxing to US Zionists. This complete, laughable fabrication proves these works as correct.Only an absolute buffoon would realize this as not a phony. Yet, it is not merely a phony but is, in fact, a vile act, truly inconceivable: it is an act of war by the Zionists. They have virtually immediately blamed Islaam through associating it with ‘ISIS': as if that entity is Islaamic, which, of course, is ludicrous.Yet, it is said:CBC News has confirmed the Ottawa shooting victim is Nathan Cirillo, 24, a reservist serving in Hamilton from the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada regiment.By no means did Cirillo die. He is an arch-Zionist Jew. This is a Zionist plot, make no mistake about it.I can't understand how everything that happens in the world is a conspiracy theory, not only is it direspectful but do they have anything to back this up?Meanwhile someone has twittered a photo taken with the dead soldier on Sunday while sight seeing, it is posted by @megunder but I can't repost it here.Stay safe where ever you are in the world, the radical Muslims say that we will be under Sharia law eventually - does anyone believe it or can you see this happening in the future? Val22
Again, it goes to show you there is no 24/7 security anywhere at anytime. It's the world we live in and it won't change now, only get worse.I'm surprised that Canada was attacked. They usually try to stay neutral and out of US affairs, but I guess no one is safe from crazy people or terrorists.

Go back and look at the last dozen threads over the last 10 years in this forum, about any shooting or gun laws, and I guarantee someone, from some other country, is usually the first to chime in with something along those lines.Of course Americans came up with the phrase.....the original phrase wasn't used sarcastically as it is now. downzy
Pretty amazing that the guy who brought the attacker down was the "Sergeant of Arms." Talk about a guy living up to his name! For those unaware of who the sergeant of arms is and what he does, he's largely a symbolic figure during parliamentary debates (as noted in the picture below - btw, that is actually the guy who took down the shooter) and responsible for the security systems at the House of Commons.(yes, this guy took out the shooter).
