what was adler involved in that axl alludes to here

Recommended Posts

Slash and duff have both said that there was always animosity between Steven and Axl, a sort of vague hatred.

As soon as Axl started taking over the band, naturally Adler would be the first casualty.

But hey, at least we got Paul Tobuas in the deal eventually.

To be fair, though, both Slash and Duff, as well as other insiders, have also said that Steven was fucked up on drugs to the point of being non-functional as a band member at the time he was fired.

From this interview, the details on the speedball incident :http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/articles/showarticle.php?articleid=11

DEL: Want to talk about another former member of Guns, drummer Steven Adler?

AXL: The misconception is that we kicked him out for the hell of it, and that I was the dictator behind it. The truth is, I probably fought a little harder to keep him in the band, because I wasn't working with him on a daily basis like the other guys were. They grew tired of not being able to get their work done because Steven wasn't capable of it...

....We took him to rehabs, we threatened his drug dealers, we helped him when he slashed his wrists. I even forgave him after he nearly killed my wife. I had to spend a night with her in an intensive-care unit because her heart had stopped thanks to Steven. She was hysterical, and he shot her up with a speedball. She had never done jack shit as far as drugs go, and he shoots her up with a mixture of heroin and cocaine? I kept myself from doing anything to him. I kept the man from being killed by members of her family. I saved him from having to go to court, because her mother wanted him held responsible for his actions. And the sonofabitch turns on me? I mean, yeah, I'm a difficult person to deal with, and I'm a pain in the ass to understand, and I've had my share of problems, but Steven benefited greatly from his involvement with me - more than I did from knowing him.

When typing things like that, do you ever sometimes wonder if the redhead will ever see it? I always get a feeling that he's watching everything we all say with obsessive rage, filling up a digital notebook of his most hated posts and posters like some outlaw with a hit list.

Adler was the only no man Axl ever had. So Axl needed to get rid of him and drugs and the Erin incident was the perfect excuse

If Adler is the only no man Axl ever had, then wouldn't that make Jarmo the antithesis of Adler? I would love to see Jarmo vs. Steven in a boxing match.

I am sure early on all the members done there fair share of drugs/alcohol. That is what bands did back then.

But I really believe Axl was the first to get, I don't to say clean but under control and just every now and then. This why I think he distanced his self from the band during the UYI tour.

Why do you think management and the label pushed so hard for him to be in control of the GNR name in case anyone died or whatever. To say it worked out good for the record company would be wrong because as much as I like the new band all those years to get an album out was not what the thought they would get.

I think when the band split there where lawsuits galore about Axl using the GNR name. The other members didn't sign the name over because Axl was refusing to go on stage unless it was signed, the contract would be thrown out in court so fast because there would have been under direst when the sign and would make the contract invalid.

I would still like to know what happened with the cancelled tour in 2002??? One of three things the promoter pulled the plug, Axl pulled the plug or a lawsuit or one that was on going an injunction to not use the GNR name and granted by a judge. I lean toward an injunction granted because Axl hardly ever talks about court cases and anytime it has been brought up he says he can't talk about it which makes me think there was a gag order.

This is just me thinking out loud.

I wish I could have evidence of the alledge foodfight Axl and Adler got into back in the old days. Jarmo who? Nah, the Adler´s antithesis are Beta, Fernando and Del James.

Axl pulled a few no shows and to prevent further rioting they pulled the plug...that's my understanding. I don't believe it was outside influences trying to shut axl down, I think he flushed it down the can all by himself.

What kind of sociopath are you? Do you realy believe that Adler meant to hurt Erin? Do you really think the reason why Adler was fired was that incident with Erin?

Why do you think Adler was fired?

Because his drug use and lifestyle were so out of control that even the other junkies in the band couldn't deal with him. Because he had become a useless, dead weight to the band and a complete detriment to everyone's lives. The same road any junkie eventually goes down if they don't get sober before then.

Becuase he was only member was outspoken. The only one at that time who would confront Axl when the band like something. Steven was the only one who would dare. That´s the main reason not the drugs since all of them except Izzy were on drugs. There was tension between Axl and Steven pretty much from day one. An example of this is the fact that Adler received a smaller percentage of AFD rights because Axl didn´t think Steven deserved it.

While I'm certainly not a die hard Axl supporter, you seem to be a die hard Axl detractor. I think Steven's situation is well documented and your theory is not at all what happened.

You really think everyone is absolutely afraid of Axl and will succumb to his every whim? Except Steven? Steven is a crackhead on the lowest level. He's a good guy sober, I'm sure. Most crackheads are. But he's a crackhead. Crackheads will steal life saving pills from a dying person just to trade them for crack.

I think you've got some weird Axl thing in your head.
