ZoSoRose
SCOM is a song that has always been ok to good live, but never as good as the studio version IMO
GabrieL_TiT
I think so, I've seen a video once he sounded almost like studio version, I don't recall, maybe it was melbourne

TeeJay410
Sweet child never quite sounds the same live. If I had to venture a guess why, it might be due to the vocal harmonies Axl does. The rest of appetite he doesn't come close to doing as many harmonies as he did in Sweet child. Without them, or without Axl being the one to sing them, the song really does sound different.

Rdeyahlxp
Of course. Tokyo 1992.
GivenToFly
Most live versions I've heard.I don't like the studio version very much. Axl's voice is too nasal. Ritz'88 is my favourite, but 80's versions in general are the best.
Satanisk_Slakt
This was never a good live song.Plus the everything about the studio version was perfectly executed. Voice, mixing, drums, guitars, pace, bass... Everything was perfect, there's literally nothing that could have been improved.

Stro
Not only has Axl never sounded as good as on the record, but the guitar parts have never sounded as good as they were on the record. Slash, Bucket, Robin, DJ, Ron, none of them have been able to ever get the tone just right.
TeeJay410
Seeing sweet child be played on a BC Rich Warlock is insane to me.
RJ88
I like the Ritz 88 version, but Slash kind of ruins it with how shitty he plays the solo
Nosaj Thing
The solo has never sounded the same as in the studio version. I don't know about Axl's voice, I've never paid attention to his vocals until the "where do we go now?" verse. This sounds good.
Underhardy
I'd say Tokyo 1992 with the sail away sweet sister intro and the sick "CHIIIILD" outro. They really fucking rocked that song in 92. Made it seem like it was the highlight of the show every night they did it.
Jwalker19
Second half of the Big Daddy version.
ludurigan
Ritz 1988, Rio 1991, Tokyo 1988, Indiana 1991...so fucking great live!
AxlsMainMan
Not only has Axl never sounded as good as on the record, but the guitar parts have never sounded as good as they were on the record. Slash, Bucket, Robin, DJ, Ron, none of them have been able to ever get the tone just right. They sound pretty solid here:
BreakDown2014
I always loved Robin's version of the solo, so that bit is imo better in the 2001-2007 versions. For the rest of the song, the studio verson is just perfect.
Laparka
The album version is awesome. I'm bored hearing it live, but I can never skip it when I listen to AFD.
DaneisKing1389
In terms of live, I like the 2006 versions quite a bit better than anything after 1988. My focus is on Axl and Finck's solo. I like the studio version the best, though.

combos
I have never heard Axl, at ANY age, sound better than he does in the studio.
