The '94-'96 GN'R record

Marc,

Do you know if GN'R really recorded an album after the UYI tour but before Slash left?

Axl, Slash, Duff and Matt have all referred at various points to an album being in the works during that period.

Slash said in August '96 they had 80 new songs.

Matt said in a summer '96 interview the band had recorded 7 songs and claimed the new album was a cross between AFD and the UYIs.

Duff in an early fall '96 interview said the band was recording a 12 album album of rockers with no ballads.

Axl said in 2002 that the last material they worked on was very bluesy and had some of Slash's best playing on it. He later claimed Slash played the 'key bits' of Fall to Pieces for him sometime between '94 and '96.

Since you were around then, what do you remember? Were there any actual songs done in this time frame?

Izzy was back for a few weeks and had a shit load of demos but I don't think anything got done with them. There was a demo with Zakk Wylde that didn't have any vocals on it that was recorded for GNR around 95 or 96

The bluesy thing that Axl was talking about was one of Slash's songs that ended up on his Snakepit record. Remember Axl did like 3 or 4 of the songs that Slash came up with back then. Its just that 3 or 4 songs that they were both on the same page on was not enough to make a record when they both wanted different things for the rest of the record and who was going to play on the record instead of Izzy.

What happened with those Izzy demos? Are they also in The Vault?

Marc,

would you happen to know which 3 or 4 songs that were?

Personally, the 2 Pit albums were bombs. Probably best most versitile albums post GNR era.

Also, any wild guess if we night here those Izzy tracks one day or were they chopped up for other albums?
